I was reading section 21.1.7 "Aircraft, AFV Combat Vehicle Production"and was wondering why AC Crews are considered an integeral part of the individual aircrafts' production without drawing whatsoever from the Man-Power" pool? Seems odd since AFV crews are drawn from the pool as per this section? In particular since some Air Crews required more Man-Power than AFV's... Now this was in the manual and I have not as of yet looked up if there were any changes to this yet in the patches, so?

We would have been better of with a Pilot/Crew system such as in WitP-AE IMHO... However that's another story

I can understand your sentiments but I would suspect the intention for it being as it is purely stems from the fact the focus of WitE is on the land combat.....in an ideal world though I know.....

Even though the so called focus of WitE is based on more land combat related issues, still why would you not draw Air Crews from the Man-Power pool for production? Looks like everything else draws from it except Air Crews?

Isn't that what is meant by the following sentence:

"AFV and combat vehicles include installed devices, but will not become complete ground elements until they are matched with manpower for the crew during the replacement segment."

True, for the AFV's & Combat Vehicle Crews, no issue there. The manual however for some reason excludes Aircraft Crews not being drawn from the pool in the next sentence, don't have the manual in front of me quote atm. So again, the question is why not and in particular since in most cases all the Aircraft with the exception of Single Engine Fighters are at least two or many more crew members. Just kind of strange don't you think, afterall we are talking many thousands of pilots and crew members all combined

Aircraft, AFV and combat vehicles are built at individual factories by using supplies, with one
item being built for each factory point. For example, assuming sufficient supplies are available,
the JU88A factory in Rostock, with a capacity of ten factory points, will build ten JU88A’s every
turn. Each aircraft is built as an integral unit, including installed devices and aircrew. AFV and
combat vehicles include installed devices, but will not become complete ground elements
until they are matched with manpower for the crew during the replacement segment.
Each
item has a build cost that determines how many supplies it takes for production. The cost to
build an aircraft is its build cost divided by 20. The cost to build an AFV or combat vehicle is its
build cost divided by 10. For example a FW 190A has a build cost of 484, so it would require
24.2 tons of supplies to produce one such aircraft, to include four 20mm cannon, one 250 KG
Bomb and two 300 litre drop tanks as installed devices as well as integral aircrew. A Tiger AFV
ground element has a build cost of 673, so it would require 67.3 tons of supplies to produce
one such AFV, to include one 88mm gun and two 7.92 machine guns as installed devices. Once
produced, each aircraft of a specific type is placed in a separate pool until it is drawn upon
as a replacement or, for Soviet and captured aircraft, enough aircraft are in that pool to allow
the creation of a new air group unit. AFV and combat vehicles go to their specific AFV/Combat
Vehicle pool until the system determines that both the need exists to build that type of ground
element and sufficient manpower is available.

So based on what the manual says I take it that AC Crews are exempt from having to draw from the Manpower pool, correct? Why is that if so, anyone?

This is my interpretation only and maybe Pavel or Joel will jump in with the definitive answer but here's what I think is going on:

Aircraft are drawing manpower when they are built while ground elements draw manpower when they are fielded (go in as replacements). I don't know the reason for the difference in approach but assume it has something to do with how new production is fed into air units versus ground units.

If this is so, I would have no issue with that. Though I would think manpower should be drawn when the unit was built first to barely account for training maybe? Anyway, would be nice to know if Aircrews draw manpower at anytime
