As far as Coast Guard is a Navy branch in Italy, yes I've done.
Finished as Sergeant.

I trained to be an armor crewman, got shipped to Germany, and then they made me a clerk. (Hence an REMF. :D) If I'd been left in the M-60's, I'd probably still be in the Army.

11 Months, now sergeant in reserve. I ended up with training for 2 tasks, radio team leader (radio car + several HF and VHF sets) and as 'Communications NCO' for army/army corps comm center duties.
I'd tell you more but then I'd have to shoot you ;)

Charlie Battery, 75th AAA Missile Battalion, Waldorf, Maryland, SIR!!!

Then two years Michigan National Guard, running into trees in the dark. Supply, so I could go literally to any outfit.

Went from a regular Army first line, VIP, Elite missile outfit to the medical battalion of the MIch Natl Guard - we ran Camp Grayling hospital with our own personnel, which was not the case with most other states who at the time also used Grayling for summer encampment.

How long ago? Eisenhower was president when I was on active service.

Has anybody been to Fort Hood in July? For basic infantry training? Guaranteed you would never forget it if you did. Then Ft. Ord, Calif. for supply school - tough duty. Weekends in San Francisco.

Bing

I Spent 6 years in the US Marine Corps from 1987 to 1993, got out then in 1994 I joined the National Guard and I still serve there. Most of my time has been enlisted but I got commissioned a couple years back and now I am Company XO for my unit. I think most military people have some interest in war gaming be it computer, board game, or even paintball.

Did 20 years in US army; retied Field Artillery (MLRS; Multiple Launch Rocket System). Did some time in Korea, Germany, and fired tons of rockets in the Gulf war.

I now work at Ft Hood Texas fielding armored vehicals and thier related equipment to army units. Right now it's mostly M2A3 Bradleys and fire support vehicals...

You can take me out of the army but you can't take the army out of me ;) :D

Sorry about this non-engligh post to our non-danish reading audience...

What is there to defend on Bornholm except fending off drunk Swedish high-schoolers ferrying in from Ystad?? :D

"Pyntenakker" - now there's a Danish word I have to memorize.

14 year in the Royal navy, 1965 -79. Seen active service in two so called 'Security operations' (along with the ship). Fortunately I was never involved in a real war.

TO THE REST; SORRY FOR THE INTERRUPTION, JUST A BIT OF INTERSERVICE RIVALRY, REGULAR PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE WILL RECOMMENCE:D
