Webizen, there is a small mistake that probably doesn't show up often. In Staff I, the first extra graphic (for Anglo) has the SMG counter instead of the staff 1 counter.

Updated ATG NATO Counters MOD for Random Games to support ATG 2.11 beta patch. See top post for download link.

Replied in another thread, but figured you'd see it here more quickly. :)

When I start ATG without the NATO counters (0), I have nine buttons on the main screen. Besides the basic ones, there is one for the alternate graphics and one with the regular graphics, both random games.

But when I begin with the NATO counters (2), I get eight buttons. There's one for random with the alternate graphics, but not one for the regular graphics. Is it no longer possible in the new build to use the NATO counters while using the regular graphics, or is there something I'm not seeing?

Thanks,

Alan

My mod modifies the ATG main screen to display different buttons. You make your game type selection from the menu when the game first starts:

0] Advanced Tactics Gold <-- default ATG
1] ATG NATO Counters Mod <-- default map graphics with NATO Counters
2] ATG NATO Counters Mod (Alt Map Graphics) <-- as described

If after selecting an option you change your mind, you have two options:
1) exit the game, restart and make another selection
2) enter the Random Game options screen, click the button underneath "DESERTED LANDS" and this allows you to select a different AT2 file to base your random game on.

1) generic.at2 - default ATG
2) generic2.at2 - default ATG with ALT Map Graphics
3) classic.at2 - old AT game
4) genericnato.at2 - default ATG with NATO counters
5) genericnato2.at2 - ATG with NATO counters and ALT Map Graphics

I may look into another mod that adds new buttons for all the additional options in lieu of using the menu system but for now this is what you have.

I've created a second NATO counters mod. Read the details in the top post.

If you are seeing a missing graphic as shown below when you select the v2.11 NATO Alt Graphics game, then download/install the MOD again or simply replace the genericnato2.at2 file with this one (right click the link and choose Save Target As or Save Link As). Place the file in the atgoldscenarios folder overwriting the current one.

Minor Update 8/28/12

I learned that the new AltGfx map for random games does not support weather (no graphics for it). I had removed the 'noweather' attribute from the defaultmod.txt file in the root folder of ATG thinking it would provide the weather options. It will not. If you installed the Menu System Mod you'll need to add that attribute to this file /mods/atnatomodALTG.txt.

1,6,-415,568,AltGfx Random Game,13,generic2.at2 <-- my version
1,6,-415,568,New Random (NATO AltG),13,genericnato2.at2 <-- my version

Those lines should be edited to add back the noweather attribute.

1,6,-415,568,AltGfx Random Game,13,generic2.at2,noweather
1,6,-415,568,New Random (NATO AltG),13,genericnato2.at2,noweather

The mod download files have been updated to reflect these edits. If you so choose, you can edit the file yourself without the need to download and install again.

Great mod, Webizen.
If I want to fix the weather per your message above, how do I get to this folder, and what program should I use to change it? (Afraid my experience modding is currenly only limited to the editor)

Also, I have noticed that in the default map graphics with NATO Counters, when I click on a unit, I can no longer see the units movement range hexes illuminated on the map. Has anyone else experience this?

Folder (Use Notepad to edit or any other text editor):
C:\Matrix Games\Advanced Tactics Gold\defaultmod.txt (New Buttons Mod)
or
C:\Matrix Games\Advanced Tactics Gold\mods\atnatomodALTG.txt (Menu System Mod)

Re Movement Range: You have to click the unit and then the movement icon to see the movement range. If you are doing this and not seeing the movement range, reinstall the mod. It works in all four random game modes for me.

NOTE: The NATO Counters Mod should have no affect on the movement range feature of the game. The mod is simply a matter of loading new unit counter graphics and changing two rulvars: one for screenshot size and one to enable NATO counters in max zoom mode.

No changes needed to support the final v2.11 release. The mod is good to go as is.

I've tried, but failed to install the New Button option.....what am I doing wrong?

I downloaded the file, but the Install/Zip button doesn't see the file. When I go to download it again......it shows the file in the root directory and asks me if I want to overwrite it. Hmmmm, I say "yes," but again the game's Install/Zip button can't see it anywhere (I've deleted the files in the Mod folder).

Ideas?

Never mind! Although the "save as" download showed the file in the ATG root directory, by searching the computer it was in my download file (don't know why it would show up when I would download it again).

By copying the file to the root directory and then using the Install/Zip button it worked fine.

....love the random games.

I've updated the ATG NATO Counters MOD for Random Games to support ATG 2.12 beta patch. See top post for download link.

Update: Initial upload on 12/11 had two "Credits" buttons and left off the button for the Classic game. Fixed.

EDIT: No longer needed. I've incorporated this file in the v2.13 version of the NATO Counters Mod.

I've created a new defaultmod.txt file for my v2.12 NATO Counters Mod with smaller buttons. If you find the large buttons on the main screen somewhat distracting (covering some of the beautiful artwork), try this file. Download and overwrite the same file in the root folder of ATG. To be clear: only use this file if you have installed the v2.12 NATO Counters Mod.

I've updated the ATG NATO Counters MOD for Random Games to support ATG 2.13 beta patch based the zip file provided by Vic. See top post for the download link. When Matrix Games releases the installer version I will remove links to the v2.12 mod.

Update 1/8/13: The installer version of v2.13 has been released and links to the v2.12 NATO Counters Mod have been removed. Note also that the installer version carries a "b" label (2.13b on the game's main screen). Therefore I updated the mod to support this version. This may have been unnecessary but just in case the mod is updated.

I've updated the ATG NATO Counters MOD for Random Games to support ATG 2.13b beta patch released today by Matrix Games in the Members Area. This supersedes the mod for the zip file version released by Vic. See top most post for download.

I've created a new mod that includes both my NATO Counters Mod and Lancer's new Enhanced Resource Mod. Unless I'm missing something I think Lancer's 'leader.txt' file is pointing to an incorrect at2 file (leaders.at2 vice ERM_Officers.at2). My mod does not use this txt file and therefore does not include it. If you installed his new mod already and install my combined mod, delete the leader.txt file in the mod folder.

Thanks for your continuous work on the nato counters mod, it has become a classic for ATG.
