Is there a way to restore the standard miefield icon from the original Steel Panthers series? The one in which the mines look like mines. I find it slightly distracting that minefields are the only thing in the game that use a symbol instead of an icon that looks like the thing itself.

Warhorse: Isn't it possible that the old style mines will be totally hidden with the current display for a badly cratered hex (something for timc to think about, if so)?

Charles22, you are correct, the craters will obscure them!! I had replaced them myself awhile back, but went back to the skull and crossbones after I realized I couldn't tell where the mines were, unless I moved the cursor over them. That is a consideration for switching timc. ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue

Yes, I've noticed that sometimes even the skull and crossbones is almost entirely obscured by craters. I'd like to try the old ones anyway.

Warhorse: Here's a simple idea, though it's quite obvious. Why not make multiple buttons to depict multiple mines and then overlay all the possible cratered hex displays to work a good deal of the mines displayed around that (but some of them should be obscured to create the cratered effect, don't you think?)? It would seem that at least some of the corners would be free to show mines.

If I remember correctly the old mine fields, when being swept, decreased the number of mines in the icon, but it was thought to be unrealistic knowing how many mines were left. I'd go for this overlay idea in a heartbeat over the jollyroger mines.

BlitzSS: The idea wasn't to have multiple mines to reflect what was actually in the hex, but just images to take up more of the hex, before an overlay of craters. Let's say the new graphic would show mines on the 6 edges and 2 or 3 in the interior, but which in no way would represent how many mines were in the hex; it would be as generic as the one mine we used to have.

Ya, I know and liked the idea. I was just responding about the SP1 mines per above as well.

Charles22, I'll look into that, the only problem is that there are 21 different crater graphics!! And they are all positioned differently. I'll see what I can do tho'. Good idea there, bud. ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue

Warhorse: Or then again, you could just outline the hex with krytonite green or something, which of course would get around any interior graphics being obscured.
