A few questions I am curious about:

1. Historically did any Panzer divisions surrender on the Eastern Front prior to 1944? If so, what was the first date that it occurred?

2. If you, an Axis player in the 41 GC, lose a Panzer division (surrender) during the '41-'42 Blizzard, would you surrender? If yes, why?

Thanks!

Yes they did. (Stalingrad).

No I would not. "Destroyed" is a loose term. If you have a panzer division that has 500 guys, 2 tanks and a truck, while it may still technically be a panzer division, you can't call it "destroyed" in game terms. If such a unit, run down to that particular level, then gets destroyed, have you really lost much?

Even if several divisions got destroyed, I would try to hang in there, but there are other factors involved I don't know that relate to this particular situation like OOB for each side, map position, etc. If the Russians are sitting on 10 million and the Germans 1 million (I exaggerate, but.. ) then I would consider congratulating my opponent move along.

Any destroyed division for the Germans will be returned several turns down the road and need more turns to be rebuilt, but it will eventually return to the battlefield.

Ahh for some reason I was thinking that the German forces are permanently destroyed, similar to Soviets after Nov '41. I see now they attempt to reform per 18.1.1.2 in the Rules.

All other Axis units are gone if they get destroyed and will never return.

You probably mean Axis-ALLIED (ie Rumanian etc)? As far as I know all German divisions reform if destroyed...

Correct.. sorry, meant it as a add on to my original post specifying German units coming back.
