Sorry if this has already been brought up before. I was wondering if there was any way to view in-depth detail about a combat result such as knocked out unit types (actual tank models instead of 'afv' and amounts lost for the enemy, arty types, etc.). I know I can slow down the combat messages and increase the level of detail but I don't want to sit there and view it in real-time. I'd like to see a log or something that records all this. This probably wouldn't mesh well with FOW but for no FOW it could work. If it exists then I haven't found it yet.

There's no log. You have to increase the message level to see detailed combat. Worth doing a couple times just to understand how combat works though.

Well then I suggest a feature suggestion. Just take a level 7 combat output and pipe it to a logfile that can be recalled and parsed on screen. It would add to the 'story' of the game IMO. Then at the end of the turn just purge all that data and start fresh for the next turn. Also, I'd love to see a record/replay feature that would log all important events in the game (movement, combat, etc.). This way you can watch your 'greatest-hits' so to speak, you know, the game you poured hundred of hours into and won, something that you could go back and 're-watch' and share with others.

Wonderful. I posted a little more 'details' about my suggestion in the suggestions thread. I thought this would have been lost since it was posted in the wrong spot. Could we have an export feature to export the log files to the computer?

Thanks for the response and I'm truly stoked about the feature addition.

Logistic phase event log already should be saved to the save folder.

More details = more nitpicks.  Devs should be prepared.

So does more units, more map hexes, more rules, more equipment, etc. Honestly its just giving a stand alone report of what the game already shows you. It just eliminates the headache of catching it all in real time.

It could be argued that the reason the Soviet 1:1+ rule is getting so much flak is because it's one of the few combat calculations that the players are directly and fully aware of. Making more of the combat beholden to the players may result in more nitpicking, but it may also ensure that the feedback is getting directed to the "correct" parts of the combat system, instead of to just what we know.
