I hope too. My experience in the field has showed me you get a very active poster on forum from 200 players, a from the same number between 5 to 10 posting at least once. These numbers don't apply to new games, whose participation rate is much higher in the first 3 weeks after release. Then gradually, these figures are joined. Last, the more the bugs, the more the posts

White Siberians: The unhistorical path

AT start, Siberian Whites will have the choice between follow the historical path or take an alternative one.
What are the differences? Important but not as big as some of you can expect. So I will first explain the design decisions backing up this choice.
Historically, 3 insurrections against Reds begun in the East during Summer 18: Czech legion, KOMUCH ( ie to simplify the Right SR) at Samaraand rightist Generals around Omsk. These three were distrustful one another and didn't collaborate well. In the end, the rightists took power and Kolchak was chosen as Supreme leader in November 18, Czech Legion and Komuch for the essential leaving the battlefield.
One could imagine an alternative path with stronger Komuch establishing a democratic form of government. Howewer, we could as much postulate an alternative path where Lenin abolishes Tcheka and imposes Free elections. Yes, I know, impossible. Nevertheless, impossibility is the same for a stronger Komuch.

During all the Civil War indeed, Right SR was never able to build their own armed movement; They tried here and there and always failed. The most tinier Anarchist factions, even deprived of the myths, did something, in Ukraine, at Kronstadt. Right SR never was even close to this. We could discuss hours why they failed, but what matters is there were big and serious reasons hindering Right SR to grow in the civil War context. That's not bad luck but sociological, political and military heavy factors playing against them.

So the FY Siberian unhistorical path is much more limited than building such a fantasy. It postulates during Summer 18 a closer alliance between the 3 forces. This alliance is less fragile than in RL and should end later than in history. However, it will end with the rise of the Rightist and Kolchak. Then the usual flaws of Siberian faction will outcome, but at a random rate and with other values. Czech Legion will remain longer before demobilization. Allied help will be maybe more important for Kolchak, because he will be seen as the less antidemocratic of Whites, or less, because he will be charged with the end of the democratic Komuch whose failure will be much more resented as it seemed to have had a chance to win...Stronger allinace at start, but with faster NM losses after because SR have had the time to organize a better opposition to the putsh placing Kolchak at the head of Power...

In short, players liking to know the future curse of events will choose the historical path, others the unhistorical, gambling over possible but uncertain bonus. The goal remains exactly the same. The use of Land reform is allowed in both. It's up to you to choose.

So what's new in the next version?

- reworked the Siberian unhistorical path events ( a lot)
- Kronstadt Approach sea region will freeze during winter ( allowing to attack Kronstadt on foot...)
-a new portrait from Nikel ( thanks to him)
- ANA AI improved a bit
- Yudenich bugs mentioned today fixed
- fixed a bug in RED AI choices for options

Version now available on my blog ( see my sig).

Compatible with ongoing games. Compatible with 1.03a official patch.

There’s a video on Youtube about install process. Link mentioned into the install txt file

Do you know FY may be played with Reds against White AIs too?

Here the requisitions and conscriptions at the start of the GC I've ordered. Total war...

I say this because the Left SR and Anarchist revolt have begun at Moscow. Rather than being Siberian Whites faction members, like in the official version ) they belong now to the Anrchist faction. AIs have of course been updated to this change.

Early August 18 in my game as Red: Tzaritsyn is threatened by the Southern Whites ( blue), Siberian Whites aren't far...I hope Stalin will hold against these "burzhooi" AIs

Edit: Late August 18: Tzaritsyn is yet in my hands, Stalin having beaten Cossack assault on the city!

Late August 18: now my requisitions and conscriptions decisions has been achieved., I'm building new units. A few

I've chosen to stick with the historical Bolshevik policy: large number of units, built from requisitions and conscriptions. I will ahve to use Tchekas regional decision to slow Green revolts.

Fatal Years allows Red player to try another way, by enforcement of a more lenient policy toward peasantry, raisng loyalty but lowering the number of possible requisitions and conscriptions.

If my units are numerous, their cohesion is low and I've yet to wait several turns to get sufficient numbers of imrpovements in this field thanks to the choice I've made of military reform option. For now, the trouble of implementation of this new policy is costing me some money, conscripts, EPs, each turn...

How White AIs are performing?

Southern White AI has been rather subpar until now. I don't worry that much as some reports from other games have showed better performance but I will have to look at.

On the contrary, Siberian AI is aggressive and well focused: it has captured Ufa, Saratov, holding Penza and menacing Kazan by the South. Two turn earlier, I tried to capture Syzran which was unoccupied, in the back of a large Czech formation at Penza: the AI came back to Syzran with a part of this force and broke my counterstrike...

The results in early September 18 shows my moral has plumeted to 93, due to defeats, military reforms, conscriptions. I can't afford to go under 90. My units, with their low cohesion, are per se very brittle and a low NM will just amplify that during battles.

Siberian AI leads in VP and gets more of them than me...

I've found why Southern White AI performance was mediocre. Not a bug but the left-over of an old try about AI events. Interestingly, this event was an attempt to enhance AI by colsely scrpted behaviour....Scripted reactions for AI will never work Fortunately, this was the only one remaining of the few I wrote, tested, and discarded.

Of course, as usual with SEPRUS, the new patch 1.03a has fixed some bugs...and introduced a new, affecting only battles display during the turn resolution:

http://www.ageod-forum.com/showpost.php?p=215519&postcount=9

From time to time, SEPRUS should play RUS. It could help debug process

Death to Popov!

I've restarted a new RED test game after applying soe changes. Southern AI plays better. Among other new features, Reds get 10 VP each turn the military reform isn't chosen ( balance purpose), and some little fixes here and there. Then German Freikorp risks to lose Morale from mid-19 ( historical features, as Von den Golz tried to attack Estonia, when his men were tired of war and waiting the land in Lithuania it have been promise when they enrolled...

Did one yesterday.

It did not look so bad or I think that there are already worse portraits in  the game...

The problem is more the "sailor look". He was a sailor in  the baltic, but I guess he did not wear the sailor clothes later

Will post it tomorrow, I am at work now, all the day

Thanks Bah, there were some Anarchist sailors in Moscow insurrection

BTW, I've deactivated my login at Ageod forum since a few days. I'm lurking here from time to time (there's from time to time some interesting posts and patches ) but I don't have anymore access to my box on AGEOD. That's simple, it suffices to create an unknown password. So please use my private box here if needed.

OK.

Here is Popov, no faction name given to the files.

And of course no obligation to use it if you do not like

You may also use the other portraits done by me, Kudinov, Kanin and Bischoff have no portrait in the game. Syrovy, U-S and Zemitans have, but I think the new are better, just IMHO, of course

Just a side note: if the sells of RUS are low, how to explain SEPRUS has bnever been posting here, when Matrix forums are very frequented?

But who is SEPRUS?

Already asked this months ago and you said it was a shared support account, but Catlord disappeared, so is he SEPRUS?

Is my intuitive observation (ie. not checked) correct that NW replacements are costlier than others?

Who is Catlord?

Back to more serious thing than this ( for info, just read the end of this post...It gives a short idea of the reality). Time to stop to argue with them. Life is better without.

The more serious thing: Popov in situation:

Not that bad

Thanks Nikel.

Once I've finished to test it, I will release the new version.

Yes indeed. Yudenich army was about 25,000 strong at his peaK; I could have reduced the unit pool, but I prefered upping unit cost to let player choice to build a stronger army ( rationale being these units would be made of ex-POWS, volunteers coming from far, hence the higher cost

I will not comment anymore about. If I really don't believe one second to their statements, I just don't have any more interest in. If moderation is smart, they will close this thread soon. The sooner the better. For the rest, facts are stubborn and unfortunately for some yet at work since some months.

New Fatal Years version released on my blog ( see my sig).

What's new?

- Better Southern Whites AI at start
- Revised slighty 2 Red options: not choosing military reform will give 10 VP by turn. Recruit Party members in army will give 2 NM ( better morale in units) but Reds will lose a few loyalty in several industrial cities ( reflecting departure of Bolshevik core to the Army)
- Freikorps will lose NM after June 19, because men were unwilling to fight longer , especially against Estonia.
- fixed one or two glitch.

- Thanks to Nikel, Popov has now his portrait.

Compatible with ongoing games.

I haven't fully tested it, by lack of time. I ran a few turns but I haven't done a fresh install of the mod. Let me know if the install file is broken.
