If you're referring to prst points, obviously a PON feature lost in RUS , until you have chosen Military reform options, you will get VPs each turn. But the cohesion of your units will remain very low, only the choice of this option helping to raise cohesion little by little.

Yes Pon feature Most Red Militia are converted to regular. But volunteer army just waiting near me I will use military reform option after some turns. And Aralsk is captured by siberian whites. Turkestan Red army retreated without a battle. So far so good

My first report as a noob Siberian: I chose to unite the factions as soon as possible, but the question "Unite the Siberian factions now?" is still presented on later turns. The option is not available anymore, so it is just a minor annoyance.

Curious, I was sure to have fixed that. Grr. Thanks.

IMHO the siberian side should be yet prone to bugs and glitches. It's the one I achived very last and I've not yet tested it more than a few turns.

Fixed. The events order wasn't the best one.

BTW, the next version will improve a bit both Whites AI and fix an unvoluntary cheat for RED AI . So Southern Whites shouldn't be as often pressed by Reds in the beginning of the campaign, improving overall balance of the game.

New version uploaded. Compatible with ongoing games.

Note: this release is tied to the presence of an unvolubtary but real AI cheat for RED. I can't accept it

What's new?

- fix an unvoluntary cheat for RED AI . So Southern Whites shouldn't be as often pressed by Reds in the beginning of the campaign, improving overall balance of the game.
- improve a bit both White AIs
-fix a few glitches
- the raise money option is now cheaper in EPs for all faction and will reward more money (250) for balance purpose.

Thre are yet some work for the "achieved " game

Fortunately, this one, to be a pain, isn't a game breaker like winter absence...

There are some glitches while testing Siberian, I guess from vanilla version, just in case

- White units in white uniform display the text: State of origin RECRUIT_NAM_SIBERIANWHITES

- Text in newspaper of Czechs retiring is missing.

- Annenkov force in Kazakhstan is displayed in the map as the siberian cavalry unit he commands, not his portrait

- French infantry in Murmansk, 3 of them not the italian, are displayed as Navire de transport fluvial-3ships in the unit panel

- In the panel there is a message of a reinforcement for whites2? sorry cannot remember right now, that is not displayed as proper text

I will look if the 4 first have been fixed in the official 1.03a, as they are indeed bugs from the first offcial version. The last and possibly Czech newspaper are maybe mine.

Edit:

recruit_nam fixed

French units: anything is normal in my game so I need your save game

Thanks

Is this just really bad luck? General Cecek (4-1-1) has been inactive for three turns in a row...

That's what I presumed. Fortunately there were no dramatic consequences.

New version of Fatal Years released

Yes, a new one… In fact, I’ve discovered some events tied to the Red military reform weren’t working as designed (the AlterCuSubUnit command is rather hard to decipher, the Wiki description of some parameters being rather lousy).

Compatible with ongoing games though :-)

Available from my blog ( see my sig)

The young Rommel will be integrated later :-) for October DNO.

A Fatal Years feature: Red infighting

Under the nominal discipline in the Party, Bolsheviks were heavily divided in political cliques opposing on almost anything, from politics toward peasants to military affairs.

In FY, some leaders, like Kamenev, are members of the Trotsky faction, others of the Stalin one. From time to time, they may be locked for one turn, to reflect strategical dissensions creating confusion in command chains.

Here Kamenev has advanced to isolate Czech forces from Samara. However, the event grounding for one turn Trotsky’s clique leaders has fired…at the worst moment.

In the same time, the Southern Whites AI is just demonstrating how well focused it is on Ekaterinodar on Novorosomething…

My NM is now only 85, due to White successes and huge conscription effort and the immediate side effects of the Military Reform option.

Dangerous. Not only because my troops will fight more poorly: Whites may play options simulating desertions in my ranks, with new conscripts for them and units removal for me…

How to raise quickly my NM?

In Fatal Years, each faction has some options allowing slight boost in NM, to a cost though.
By example, I will play this turn:

and this second:

The first has evident trade off by lowering Loyalties in key cities, arisk for the following years. the NM boost represents the coming of motivated troops in Red Army ranks.

The second is just the translation of the Bolshevik advantage Reds had during Civil War in propaganda department, the Whites having neglected this weapon until the late 1919 for the essential.

These options add several things :

- deeper strategies by offering some alternatives to the nM variations only by military successes ( these ones remaining the main however :-) , it’s a wargame after all)

- deeper political and economical flavour for the player who may use non military weapons

- better historicity by completing the RCW mood with its Propaganda material, public meetings and organized manifestations of massive enrollment.

- gameplay balance, by offering each factions a way to overcome troubles and come back if all goes well ( not assured) ;-) )

No. Leftover of the official first RUS version I think. I've overlooked this. I will change Rebel model to a pure WH3. However, it has no consequences for play as the unit containing these WHI subunits is considered by the engine as Siberian. It just explains why the replacement ledger has the WHI flag.

Next version.

BTW, you have noted contrary to the official version, a large part of these revolts in under Green control rather than Sibrian. I wanted to avoid Siberian mounting coordoanted revolter strategy in the back of the Red Army, when these revolts were scattered and without strong contacts between them...And as the Red AI until now has been very efficient in sweeping these insurrections...

I've real fun with my Red game currently.

I played red campaign throught with 28.8 version of FY. And here is some of my observations.

I managed to keep loyalty over +60(in core areas near moscow) and control green revolts( which located ukraine and near perm) . Didn't have enough time and power to crush them before victory(spring 1920).

Southern whites were some what passive after 1918(i managed to evacuate kuban area and used those men to reinforce stalin's force ), they mainly clashed with anarchist and stalin easily defended tsaritsyn(Whites launched couple attemps using only 30 000- 40 000 men against stalin's 60 000+) . Ukraine stayed whole game patchwork of white russian, anarchist and ukraine. I only conquered kharkov and kiev because of polish

Polish attacked in january 1919 and occupied minsk and kaunas. they didn't advance beyond that(no advance to kiev).  I put together 60 000 men army with frunzen but didn't manage to liberate minsk. In the end of the game poles had cbt. strenght 108.

Some oddities i found:

- in late 1918 i got message that there was no AI of opponent(or something).
- in late 1918 all fixed units(garrisons etc) were freed
- got victory message in spring 1920 after crushing siberian whites(siberian morale 0). Most of ukraine was in enemy hands and i had just starting massing men against southern whites and poles.

I've had that message too. It is like the game suddenly decides that it is a PBEM-game, and warns that opponent's turn is missing. Continuing with AI has caused no problems, so it is just a minor annoyance.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm working on Southern White AI to beef it up ( without cheats of course).

Normally Poland should go to Kiev. Grr. I would need your save or at last the scriptreport file.

Poland is strong indeed. They had both a better ratio population/troops because of nationalism and a better army organization, most men having fought WW1 for Germany, Austria-Hungary and France.

Garrison: tied imho with the problems I've fixed with some recent events tied to military reforms. If not, I will find the bug.

AI message: I tried to freeze ANA AI for some turns before July and December 18 ( a test to gain a few seconds in turn resolution). I didn't get it with Southern Whites though but I will knwow soon if playing Reds I get the same.

- Siberian: always the same stuff about sudden death victory conditions, which doesn't seem to be adapted to the presence of sevral enemy factions. You may continue the game however.

EDIT: if in Spring 1920 you have eliminated Siberian, and you're facing yet Both Southern Whites, whatever their behaviour and Poland...you're about in the same position as historically I suspect you have devoted more resources than in real RCW to keep Tzaritsyn and less for Ukraine ?

Actually my main front was baltic-belarus where i have about 200 000 men cleaning estonia and trying to recapture minsk. Passive southern white AI let me keep kharkov and kiev with skeleton crew(partisan division is in kiev and two division army in kharkov).

Tsaritsyn was kept by combosite army of orginal tsaritsyn force and 3 "kuban" divions. I also made red verdun decisions to strenghten staritsyn garrison and built some cossack divisions(just because I like those).
