With all the media attention memories of that day have come flooding back.

The day started off as usual I stopped at Starbucks on route 1 in Laurel,Maryland and headed south to Beltsville where I worked at a company called Digex which had recently been purchased by Worldcom. I needed to grab a few things before I went down to Ashburn, Virginia where Worldcom had its headquarters. When I got to the office I walked by someones cubicle who was looking at smoke coming out of a hole in the side of the WTC on his PC. I asked him what was going on and he said a plane had hit the building.

I did not have time to find out more and figured I would grab my stuff and get going and listen to the details on the radio while on the Beltway. Traffic was not too bad as I headed south on I-95 towards DC. Once I got on 495 west however things got a little crazy as word spread that the Pentagon was hit. You could see people actually stopping and doing u turns in order to hit the exit ramps. DC 101 fm radio was going crazy with rumors and reports and a panic seemed to be settling in. I managed to get turned around and headed back to Beltsville. Cell phones were all out of service and I noticed a stream of emergency vehicles headed south.

Back in Belstville everyone was glued to a few TV sets as the internet was out. Rumors were flying that DC was being evacuated and everyone who lived in Virginia that worked for us was told to get home as best as they could. The whole thing was surreal. Some people were crying, some were anxious and some just left work without a word. After a few hours I too left and went to pick up my daughter from daycare. My wife who was days away from giving birth to our second daughter was home watching the news when I finally made it back. We were glued to our TV sets.

My 5 year old wanted to go outside later and we went out. We live under a flight path for BWI and it was odd not seeing or hearing planes fly overhead. It was really odd when 2 F-16s did fly over. That was indeed not normal I remember thinking.

On Sep 16th my second daughter was born. Her whole life our country has been at war.

On September 10th 2001 I would have never guessed that would have been the case.

Woke up and saw the towers on fire from the first attack on TV. Went in to work and watched more of it on the web. Events unfolded during the day. We got a newspaper thrown at our doorstep with a special edition American Flag. We put it up on our front door. It's been a long war. I for one was totally behind the invasion or Iraq. Made perfect sense to me. I admit I am no very popular for that opinion.

I was packing a house up in Hammersmith, London when the client, who had gone out for a bit, rushed in the door and hurredly turned on the telly.I remember him saying "A plane has flown into the World Trade Centre!" We sat down and watched it all unfold for the rest of the day. I had to apologise to my boss for getting bugger all done but he didn't mind. I was living out in Northfields which is fairly close to the Heathrow airport approach path you could see the planes being diverted away from the city,it was almost eerily quiet that evening. My mum back in NZ rang me that night asking when I was coming home, I told her as I'd already lived through an IRA bomb in Ealing that I felt safe, lol.

I was home that week with a bad case of the flu.  West Wing had just finished airing (11.30pm) and felt too comfortable in the chair to go to bed, I saw a a plane flying into a building on a channel nine news break I got curious and eventually after being shocked for a couple of hours because of what I had seen on the TV I went to bed at 3 in the morning.

I can't believe it's already 10 years...

I heard about it at home in radio, that there was an attack on USA. At first I thought that it was a missile attack, then I turned on BBC or something like that and saw the burning first tower. Then I saw second plane strike - I think it was live.

I was watching CNN on tv, waiting to go to the dentist, when they had this "accident" about a plane flying into a building. First thing that sprang to my mind was, hmm, must be like that  B-25 that flew into the Empire State building
Then I saw live how the second one hit... I just could *not* believe my eyes.
I went to the dentist with apocalyptic scenes in my head. And they've been there ever since really.

I was playing EverQuest on a mixed Euro/US server, probably raiding with my guild. When the incident happened, the Americans were talking about it in general chat. So I switched-on tv and was shocked. Guess most of us here initially didn't grasp the whole scope of this assassination though.

I joined these forums on that day ten years ago. The news were all over the TV, of course.

This day TV is virtually dedicated to those events following the attacks. RIP to all the innocents of that day and the days that followed.

Was at a LAN- Party (around 3-4 PM in Germany)and saw it on the PC. we thought thats some kind of new "Roland Emmerich Movie" in the first Seconds. Saw the 2nd Plane flying in the 2nd Tower.

I am proud that the ONLY Solidarity Demonstration in the whole Muslim World with the Victms was in my Country, Iran. So while others were happy and gave Sweeties to People on the Street, thousends of Iranian went on the Street in absolut Silence.

My Wife and me will put 2 Candles on Fire today in a Church and i pray for the Families of the Victims and also for the US Troops around the World.

I was teaching in a Louisiana high school.  In the hall between classes another teacher told me what had happened.  By then both planes had hit both towers and it was clear it was a terror attack.  My first words were, "It was bound to happen."  That kind of surprised the lady.  But the truth is I was not surprised, not shocked, from the moment I heard the news.  I was just angry and have been since.  I am not going to watch the remembrance ceremonies because the government wants us to think of this as some kind of natural disaster with victims but no perpetrators.  But we haven't killed nearly enough jihadists to make up for 9/11.  (That is not a statement endorsing anything specific we have done in Afghanistan or Iraq or elsewhere, which I have lots of disagreements with; just my general opinion.)

Didn't they already kill over 10 Jihadists per every person killed in WTC and Osama Bin Laden?
How much would be enough? 100 per every victim? 1000? 10000?

It will take as long as they are out to kill Americans, years, decades. The other option of course is to pretend the threat is not there.

I don't think killing them all is a realistic, economically feasible goal. It may end up with USA going "bankrupt" and forgetting about the whole business just like with Vietnam.

Ditto. All the trains out of Chicago were full, no one said a word, everyone lost in their own thoughts wondering what it all meant.

Nice bit of nonsense. Hope you enjoyed it. I dealt with Iraq in my first post and see no one has made a statement supporting the invasion of Iraq. Have a good day.
