Okay, I just found some threads about Modern Wars: Volume I. Forgive me if I don't jump for joy or do back flips. It's Tiller's game moved into modern era. So NOBODY is working to fix the current flaws that have been in Tiller's Campaign Series and the company has moved on to making a version for those who want to play modern warfare. Chasing the almighty $$ I see. How wonderful. I'll stay in my Panther and Tiger tanks, thank you very much. And I doubt THIS area of the forum will be hopping over it's release. We still want to play the WW2 version. Nobody will be posting here about what amounts to a completely seperate game. No doubt it will have it's own forum area.

With the release of Modern Wars: Volume I, work will commence on the 1.05 UPDATE which will continue to address some issues.

Some issues cannot be remedied until the programmer figures them out, so they are still pending. I don't program, otherwise I would be focused on those.

I do this for the love of the game and have been for over a decade. I would be paid far less then a penny an hour if I was to charge for all the time I have spent working on these games. Sustainable? Nope, but I love it!

Jason: My comments were NOT directed at you. I know how much you have done for the game. The problem with command vehicles and trucks burning up their movement points and often making targets of themselves in the process has been around since the game first was released. I find it VERY difficult to believe that it can't be fixed after all these YEARS. Instead, the "programmers" seem to be more interested in releasing new features that many people don't want or can't use.

Yes, I wish Talonsoft would have fixed it from the beginning. I've even approached John Tiller to remedy the issues with no luck.

Looks like I'll have to learn how to program.

I wish I could help you my friend. I know nothing about programming and it's embarassing and frustrating to complain and not be able to help.

As a matter of fact, I just finished a dynamic game scession and the headquarters and truck units very obligingly left their cover and concealment and made excellent targets of themselves to boost my score. Almost like they are kamikaze units that want to die with their tanks.

Another problem I noticed is the option for fast computer and fast human player. It's probably already been reported, but when you set the game to fast computer player, it also accelerates the human player.

Hi,

i still hope ModernWars Volume1 is comming in the near Future ...
Not that i need to buy it - dont think without an massive rewrite of the whole engine a "modern" war with ,as example, different visibility levels from modern equipment (termal sight on tanks, nightsee options for infantery) can handled by the actual engine, from the still present bugs and quirks the actual 1.04 engine still have foreseen ...
But i hope after the relase of MW-volume1 the 1.05 patch will come and fix the "most" bugs ...... ;)

But the actual waiting of 1.05 have lead in more playing other games :\
(ATM HOI III - an superb game but an other scale - would be amazing to combine both - like in the TotalWar series ......)

Regards

I suspect quite a few people have "moved on" to other games after this long wait for the 1.05 patch.

I believe he's referring to this:
http://www.heartsofirongame.com/

I looked at it and it uses little squares as unit counters. Old school.
