It's been about a year since I've played, and I'm not sure what the latest verssion is. I had 7.0 and stopped playing because I was sick of watching a plane come in on a bombing run and destroy EVERYTHING in a 6 hex radius! I've tried to patch in v7.1, and my opening screen still says v7.o. I've tried to load the patch several times and it always says the upgrade was succesful, but it still says v7.0. What should I do? Did V7.1 take care of the Atomic Air Power problem?

Easy mistake your loading the patch incorrectly but it's not your fault. During the installation of the patch when it asks for the installation path, you need to remove the space between Matrix Games (MatrixGames) this was a last minute production boo boo. Installing in this correct manor will update the game properly to 7.1 One of the major fixes in 7.1 was the splash damage effect. A/C with large bombs still do alot of damage but other large caliber shells inflict damage properly in near misses. Enjoy.

Does anyone know if applying this patch will adversely effect any campaigns or scenarios currently being played?? My current version of the game is 7.1. Thanks.

If you meant to say that you have 7.0 and want to upgrade to 7.1, then my experiance my be of some interest.

I started at v1.0 and did progressive upgrades to 4.3b while playing a German WWII campaingn. Each time I upgraded the battle after the upgrade scored a draw no matter how well I did. I stayed away from oddball units so I had no problems with units changing to others, but as some are deleted and others added that could happen to you.

The gameplay differance between 7.0 and 7.1 isn't near as much as it is between 4.x and 6.x, or for that matter 1.0 and anything later.

I would suggest for maximum pleasure playing the game that you upgrade to 7.1 and then grab the corrected oobs for the nations that need it (the ones with just error corrections, not ones with some author's prejudices inserted so that the game plays his way).
thanks, John.

The way I understand it, there is a patch for 7.1 versions, which is what I have. That patch doesn't change the version # aka 7.2, just updates the current 7.1. At least that's the way I understand it.

As far as the oob's go, I've been happy with the way they are. I did notice an oob download at the Matrix dowload site, but I haven't really read into it yet.

Major, perhaps this will clear it up some.

available at matrix site:

SPWAW current full version 7.1
7.1 patch for upgrading from about 6.3

MCNA Desert Fox Patch v1.1

MCLV Lost Victories Megacampaigns Patch v1.1, v1.2 and sound patch

MCWT Operation Watchtower Megacampaign Patch v1.1

available from the following link:

http://www.tankhead.ca/SPWaW/downloads.asp

MCNA Lost Leader Fix

SPWAW 7.1x OOB Patch
These are actually un-official but user tested and ok.

I think that if you apply a specific Mega campaign patch then it will only affect that megacampaign since it is going into that specific folder.

Hope this clears it up some.
