subs: The mini just released by the now badly damaged I-20 hits a mine in Suva harbor and sinks. So much for that idea. To compound the futility of the mission, S-33 puts a fish in I-20 to finish her off.

On the 8th TK Chiyoda Maru is hit by the Spearfish near Tarakan and goes down burning. The Blackfish takes two solid hits from E Sagi.

On the 9th RO-66 spots POW in the South Seas and takes moderate damage from her escorts.

So Pac: The DMS sent in to clear Tanna on the 6th don't get much work done before getting shelled by Marine 155mm guns. Both should make it back to port.

On the 7th CL Columbia and DDs show up to prevent any further incursions. Kates try to hit them but have no luck with bombs.

On the 10th interesting news shows up in the OP report. I've been assuming Yorktown to be active based on only two bomb hits (with an AMMO explosion). This message of her being sunk is good news, but I still won't assume it's correct just yet.

Also on the 10th I noticed a lot of fighters in Tanna all of a sudden and brought everything I had in range to sweep. This was two A6M3a groups from Ndeni and Tojos from Koumac. The results were great considering these were his veteran defensive pilots. After getting 2 to 1 with the zeros the Tojos just ate up the P-39s. On the day he lost 40 P-39s to 12 A6M3a and 2 Tojo. Banzai!

Cent Pac: I've decided to tempt fate and send a raiding TF to the area East of PH and move it to the South. I'll use CVs Akagi and Hiryu with a surface TF and 3 oilers. I've been getting reports that PH and many West Coast ports are nearly devoid of fighters, or any aircraft. To find out if these reports are correct I've loaded a Judy recon group onto the Akagi and will scout the areas from a distance before raiding anything on land.

The two CVs are moving to Kwajalein and then to the North before swinging East above Midway. They should be able to reach the open Pacific undetected, but we'll see if that is true in a few weeks.

Burma: Jocke was definitely paying attention to the oil, but this raid on the 6th cost him dearly. At the end of the day 76 planes were reported shot down for only the loss of 7 Tojos and 4 Oscars. All but 4 of our pilots survived.

After several frustrating defensive stands here where the fighters would chew away at the escorts endlessly but never reach the bombers, today we got through. A good number of Wellingtons and some 4E were shot down in addition to the 45-50 P-40Es lost. While this airframe is obsolete, the pilots in them are not and that is a lot of pilots probably lost over enemy territory.

Nice hit in Burma...i'd say he has lost at least 20 precious fighter pilots in those two raids....the allies, once they start to attack, are very short on pilots...but they are especially short on airframes. Keep on hitting them playing defensively...he cannot sustain those losses for more than a week or he'd dry his a/c pools!

Exactly. I hope he lost even more than 20!

He's very selective about these raids. This one was spurred on by me rebuilding about 15 oil points in Magwe. Those produced for about a month before he hit the base again. It's down to 23 producing oil points now. So those planes and pilots I knocked off cost me about 15k supplies. For now I won't build anymore, but hopefully he'l come and try to finish it off.

I'm definitely feeling that way now as well. He's just put some more units in there and I think with it's proximity to Suva it'll be his staging ground for further invasions. I'm gong to throw a brigade into Luganville, even though this won't last long once he does go for it. I just want any invasion to have to be large and well planned. I'll also solidify Efate and keep some strength at Anatom.

Once he gets the LSTs down here it'll be hard to stop him moving forward island hopping. I'll have to keep some surface elements close by. The G3M3s will hit Tanna but haven't scored yet. Anything to the North of that and they might do good work though, especially if I can keep the fighters suppressed on Tanna. I can also escort from Ndeni and he has yet to strike that base with 4Es. I'd like to keep Tanna to no more than fields level 4 but that will be tough.

We're playing a lot of turns as we're both on vacation now. Its fun and it's moving us forward quickly.

subs: The sub scene calmed down after a hair-raising start to the new year. No Allied successes these five days. Some of the new improved Kageros headed out to ASW duty near the HI and couldn't locate any subs yet. The air ASW is finding them, but only a few attacks report hits.

On the 12th near Sydney the I-12 hits an AM, taking her out. Not sure why 4 torps were warranted for this target, but at least it's a hit.

So Pac: More sweeps at Tanna. Hes replaced the P-39s with Lightnings and Wildcats. That hurt a bit but was to be expected. Better that he's still fighting for it.

Quite a few ships are in the area and some show as APs. I'll bring the KB down for a closer look to see if anything stays in the port.

Liberators visited Koumac at last. They came from OZ. I think this means he's serious now about shutting down our array of level 2 airfields in the area. The Nicks were waiting though and did good work, knocking down 5 B-24s by the end of it.

On the 12th Tojos go in and do much better. In fact they come out ahead of the P-38s. Not bad. Zeros from the KB follow up and take out 5 more Wildcats for 3 losses.

On the 13th all ships dispersed back to Suva and to the South presumably. None were in range of the KB. Sweeps hit empty fields as Tanna was vacated as well.

On the 15th Nells go in and hit Tanna for only 6 hits, which look to have been repaired by morning. Ahh, US engineers.

After the experience at Tanna I realize it might be better to let small worthless AMc do most of the minesweeping and let these fast ships with improved ASW function as escorts.

I'm not pleased at most of the changes to the Fubikis. More AA and better DCs but neutered main guns and reduced range.

I wasn't impressed with the ASW performance of the converted DMS's. Since I like to bombard, I think I'd prefer to leave them as minesweepers to neutralize enemy mine concentrations. Hopefully, their ASW capability will perform better for you, than they have for me.

I also tend to keep most of these handy as DMS for bombardment escorts ... get plenty of SC and E's by mid-43.

My issue is that when they go in to minesweep anything I really want to bombard, he's going to have a Marine defense unit or some other CD gun unit that will shred them before they can do their job. The two times I tried it were utter failures. I know that's a poor sample to make a choice on but it's all I had at the time.

I'll keep a few around just to try again, but 2/3 are already in the conversion process.

Ahh. I tried it with the DMS on their own. I'll try that with the ones I have left. I just thought that would slow down the whole TF and make it more vulnerable, since there is a big gap in speed even from the 25 knot BBs to the 19 knot DMS.

Big developments happening currently. The Burma land war is on!!!

subs: A bunch of US subs are active off of NE China. I've sent several ASW TFs here to see if they in cooperation with the Air ASW groups can knock off a few of these or at least make their work much harder to accomplish. Some hits are landing, but nothing critical even though I'm getting to some subs in the shallows and get bottoming out messages.

On the 18th a slow AO is nailed trying to get oil out of Taihoku. This area is getting dangerous. A lot of planes are flying here for us, but it doesn't seem to matter much. The subs still take their toll.

On the 19th I-25 runs into a SCTF. It doesn't get an attack of and also evades attack. For those who have been reading since the beginning you'll possibly (or more likely not) remember that this is one of the ships I've been following during the war. All of the units are amazingly still active except the AMC, which died early on to provide intel about the US CVs. I'l post something updating their travels and current assignments soon.

Also on the19th DDs give Gudgeon a deep water hit. Just one, but at least that's some progress.

Tanbor takes out a small xAK on the 20th. Just carrying resources.

So Pac: Not much happening this week down here. On the 18th B-24s crush Belep, a size 1 fields with an AF Coy only. It's now out of supply and I will most likely just pull this unit soon as he's getting serious about closing ALL of these So Pac bases.

On the 19th I try one of the first night attacks of the war, with 96% moon. All Netties in range are ordered to bomb Tanna. In spite of good recon on the base, good pilots, and good moonlight, the raids are almost completely ineffectual.

The Allies splatter Luganville and Koumac on the 19th.

Burma: I feel some trepidation as Jocke launches the Burma ground campaign in a big way. On the 18th a recon flight spotted some units in the jungle during it's flight to Imphal. On the 19th a dedicated recon flight as well as Helen's visited the area. The Helen's sharp eyed bombardiers spotted the insignia of the 2nd British division while getting pummeled by flak. Two of fifteen planes go down plus another 3 to ops. On the 20th the Helens spot the 254th Armored Brigade while losing another 4 planes total.

So far recon gives a report of 121,000 troops, 1,400 guns, and 1,800 AFVs! For those who know the Allied side better than I do, what am I looking at with those numbers? I am guessing 4-5 divisions + 1 mechanized division, 2-3 brigades, several armored brigades, 7-8 arty units, 5-6 AA, some base forces and a few HQs. Any estimates on AV?

These units can't have been here long as I looked back and they were on the road to Imphal only a week ago, so there is time to prepare some defenses. They are moving to the critical bend in the rail line between Katha and Schwebo. I'll set up armies in both bases and plan to move from either depending on where he goes.

Since I was imagining an offensive shouldn't yet be possible here, I had many units split and doing other work preparing forts all over Burma. The 1st and the 2nd tank divisions now must scramble to Katha to be put together, and several other divisions, HQs and Arty units will also head up there. Four divisions will move to Schwebo with their attendant units, and one will stay in reserve in Mandalay. Thai units will garrison Magwe and Meiktila as well as Toungou and Taung Gi. Another Brigade will move to Magwe.

Prome will keep it's Thai division for now unless a move is made from Akyab. If that happens I'll need to reinforce from units in So Pac and OZ. Preparations are being made to begin transferring several divisions back this way. I've diverted 2 garrison units here (120 AV) to use for rear bases to keep the Chindits off my backside, plus a brigade from China. I've got around 500 PP right now and once another 15 days go by I should be able to buy out a division from Manchuria to send over as well.

Four divisions will move to Schwebo with their attendant units, and one will stay in reserve in Mandalay. Thai units will garrison Magwe and Meiktila as well as Toungou and Taung Gi. Another Brigade will move to Magwe.

Prome will keep it's Thai division for now unless a move is made from Akyab. If that happens I'll need to reinforce from units in So Pac and OZ. Preparations are being made to begin transferring several divisions back this way. I've diverted 2 garrison units here (120 AV) to use for rear bases to keep the Chindits off my backside, plus a brigade from China. I've got around 500 PP right now and once another 15 days go by I should be able to buy out a division from Manchuria to send over as well.


Burma scares me as Japan. It's so hard to defend and all the prime defensive territory actually spreads you out in a way that leaves you vulnerable to penetration at some points. Keeping the railway open is key.

There's always the threat of an Allied landing somewhere south of Rangoon. It's probably far too early and risky for the Allies to try such a maneuver, especially with their naval losses to date, but the possibility exists. My worst fear is top loading Northern/Central Burma only to have an eventual Anzio or Inchon type landing in my rear.

I really hate Burma.

Once he is in Burma in the clear my air force will come into play as well though. I hope it will be tough for him to sustain continued heavy losses this early.

Don't have any suggestion...sorry...but i feel your fear for Burma....It seems impossible to be defended... probably the best way is to attack India....even just in order to delay as much as possible the allied air offensive in Burma

I think being able to retreat into China will be huge, that renders the need to hold the railway far less than otherwise. You put way more faith in Japanese tactical airpower than I do.

Well, I feel for you not having 8 groups of Tojos plus a few Oscars! At least I can put endless pilots and decent planes out there. I have 7-8 level 5 or higher fields in the area. I think I can blunt the spear, but I will have to get fresh troops in quickly as well to get behind those that get pummeled from the air. Until now I have intentionally not used the IJAAF bombers much in Burma. One, I don't have much field space with all of the fighters there or enough support. Two, I didn't want them to be targets on the ground for 4Es grinding them to a pulp.

Just now I've gotten 7 new base forces and a new Air HQ on the way, (12-15 days out) with 60k supply, plus several loads of supply coming in before that. If I can hold for another month, I may be able to get enough air power to push back. Daily attacks in the central area will be tough for him, as 70-80 Tojos and 40 Oscars should meet those raids when they come. If I can keep those numbers up for a month, his pools will begin to get thin and he will be losing pilots over my territory as well. The Brits should buckle first, but the scourge of the Lightnings are thin, and he won't break my back with P-40Ks.

So I feel scared but with some options at this point. I want a fight and I think I can hold. The question for me is can I push back? I know I don't have the forces to land in India, and I don't know that I can beat him on the ground with the size of army he's bringing and the 4E support. So really, this could be the beginning of the slow grind toward the finish. I just want to make it VERY slow if possible.

Great point Erik. I can't help thinking in terms of PDU off. I agree, you can field better aircraft in the numbers required to make it a costly affair for the Allies. I expect to learn much from watching your air defence.

So Pac: An important decision is reached about the status of the IJ holdings in the deep South Pacific. I will move out the two divisions here for the defense of Burma. I will leave only token troops at Anatom, Noumea, Koumac and Efate. Luganville will get a few as it has good forts and is more easily supportable.

It is time to concentrate forces in Burma and I have about a month to get set, or less possibly.

A mini-KB left Tulagi with several SCTFs and one quick loading amphib TF to pick up the division at Noumea. Around the 22nd ships were spotted around Tanna and the mini moved into range to try for a hit but the weather didn't cooperate.

More fighters are moved in to support as well, and Tojos knocked off a few B-25s on the 24th hitting Anatom.

On the 25th the Corsairs showed up at Tanna. One of my favorite planes, unless I;m flying against them! The zeros did manage to take a few down though, which is a good start.

Nells flew in also on the 25th but only were using bombs and didn't get many hits. Too bad. Nicks did well against B-24s at Noumea, knocking down 5, but will now be stuck here and shattered over the next few days I'm sure.

Burma: Helens continue to bomb daily against the Allied troops moving through the jungle. The flak is murderous. It was noticed on the 21st that troops are moving from Akyab and showing movement toward Akyab from both Cox's Bazaar and Chittagong. So it looks like this is an all-in move.

On the 22nd Tojos proved they are not invincible. I lost 9 going in for sweeps ahead of the bombers, but at least that kept the CAP high and they couldn't get to the Helens before they had completed their mission.

Jocke tried a massive night attack on Katha on the 25th but did very little damage.

Jill issue is not a problem you can always downgrade to older model.
It can be problem with PDU Off but you are playing On:)

It looks like allied heavy bombers fly in numbers now. How Tojo is performing against them.
Do You manage to accelerate George. He is real heavies killer.

His 4Es have been in numbers for quite a while now. He only uses them by flying en masse. At least 50, and usually more like 80-90. Tough to handle. I rarely post the results and reports because it's just 4-5 times a week bombing level 2 bases in So Pac and wiping them clean. Once i repair them the cycle begins again. The 2Es mass from Nadi is a recent development, only during the last 3-4 months.

The Tojo kills a few, but generally isn't great against 4Es. The Nick does well, but if it's on an island half the group gets stuck there and ruined over the next week.

My George R n D is taking it's time to finish repairing. One factory has only 2 unprepared, the others around 5. I'll most likely get it in summer 43, like June-July.

I should be able to get to the Tony Ic by the summer also, which might mean I start producing that plane. It could be a decent point defense fighter. Not sure yet. I like trying them out myself and think the diversity could be a good thing in certain places, like Burma and the Solomons. I'll also try later versions of the Jack.

In my game i have chose planes i will focus from beginning so some models are not will be build at all.

On other side it give me chance to focus more with R&D on that few models i chose.

I only make one exception for Nick when i decide first to not build it but later he back to production plan. But i hove only few of them in action because it cost PP point to upgrade to them and i need those point for more important things right now.

I hear Tojo IIc is much better vs heavies from IIa. Armor and better firepower make difference. Also you should notice that even if Tojo is not best 4E killer he is making lots of damage to them and that should increase ops loses. Sad that IIc is available so late.

Mix of Tojo (good service rating) with Nick or later Tony(cannons) should give good resoult. You will alwes have something in air and Nick and Tony will do big holes in enemy planes

subs: I've been forming larger TFs for fuel/oil and as much as possible placing an AV in with the ships to get extra ASW in dead spots. So far so good, but there are fewer TFs out there now as I reorganize. This could also be a good thing. Harder to find them. I'm also trying to put at least 1-2 E or faster SC in with the slower PBs in 12-14 knot convoys.

I think the PB has run it's course as a valuable escort and they no longer get many attacks against the US fleet subs. More often than not they are there to take the hit instead of the TK/AO, and they've been doing just that lately. I will mainly use the 12 knot Tosu on local runs and the 11 knot Kiso will be used in remote areas and also begin to convert to AMc and ACM for defensive purposes.

Another minor hit on Guardfish near Amami Oshima on the 26th.

So Pac: His ships around Tanna run away as the mini-KB pops in for a visit and the SCTF sent to intercept comes up short. Oh, well. Another unit on Tanna.

We'll swing around New Caledonia now to try to pick up the division in Noumea. The amphib TF is hanging back out of range and waiting for the mini-KB to arrive to support.

Lightnings showed up in Tanna. They ate up the zero sweeps on the 26th. B-24s come to Noumea where Nicks do a great job against them but pay the price, losing 5 planes and seeing only 7 of 28 active on damaged fields. He did not attack on the 27th or 28th but I'm guessing the the outcome will not be pretty on the 29th.

Burma: All of the armored division parts are in place in Katha now and about to reform once a few come out of strat mode. I've decided not to try to claim the hex the Allies are moving to on the rail line. If only a few got there and the Allies moved in it would be a massacre. Also, I have forts built up in the bases. Might as well use them.

A big raid cam into Katha and although the CAP didn't do badly, it didn't get to many of the bombers or wipe the escorts clean as in previous encounters. There are just not enough groups up this way to mutually support. Two more Tojo groups are on the way from China. I'll post them in Myitkyina and Schwebo.

Helens keep discovering more units as there bomb and get flaked. His CAP is always high to get at the sweeps so he has been missing the bombers. Still I've lost quite a few good pilots since beginning to hit these troops just from the flak.

At Akyab it looks like the 2nd Indian division is one of the units moving toward our positions in Burma. It's still in the Akyab hex and will be a while for sure. Some big stuff moving around now.

I know I'll never get them all, but each US sub sunk means to me 3-5 less sunk IJN ships. Well worth the extra effort I'm putting into ASW.

subs: On the 29th US subs go wild. Haddo comes up twice to finish off a PB, and an xAK is lost with part of a base force on board heading to Rabaul.

The 30th is quieter, but Guardfish still takes out an xAK near the HI.

On the 31st a sub hits the ASW TF of two PBs I placed at Noumea to draw more bombing runs. It's really a decoy CAP trap, as I'm still afraid my CAP will not be strong enough to protect ships here, but if it makes him think I can, then maybe I can run a bit more out with fast transports. The PB might make it with only 56 float damage, and will be disbanded for now in Noumea.

On the 1st another attack takes out a supply carrying xAK.

On the 2nd the fast transport at Noumea gets a few good licks in on Permit.

So Pac: At Noumea on the 29th there was a small tragedy for the Empire. The mini-KB CAP was 1 hex from Noumea and I sent in a very high quality amphib TF to pick up the division there and get it to Burma. There were no bombers listed at Tanna the day before, so I thought this was safe. It was not!

On the day 5 very good APs and the plane carrying LSD were lost. Crap. The AMC and the other AKs might make it back to Tulagi. A lot of troops were lost in the water as well. About 1/5 of the division. Yuck.

To add insult to injury, 81 B-24s arrived and plastered the fields, taking out half a group of Nicks on the ground. Not sure how to get these out of here now!

On the 30th I move in a fast transport TF, hoping they can get a 1/4 of the division out in the night. It works, and at least 1/3 is out of Noumea and moving toward Tulagi. The other portion is being airlifted by Tinas to Ndeni.

On the 2nd some night raiding Nells actually do a bit of damage to some SBDs on the ground. This could be why none flew to attack ships in range at Noumea. Or maybe he was convinced I've stepped up my CAP. He won't be after the Corsair raid of the 2nd, which decimated my Rufes and hurt the mini-KB CAP as well. This is the first Corsair sighting. I love that plane. Too bad I have to face it now!

JPC: Some shifting around as the central reserve moves up to Kunming. Some 250,000 Chinese troops are seen moving toward the mountain borders of the Japanese Protectorate. This would be the toughest route for them to travel, so I'm not too worried about an attack here, but I must prepare early just in case. The mountains must hold.

Burma: At Myitkyina on the 29th P-40Ks skewer a brand new Tojo group brought in to support North Burma. At first I thought they were at bomber interception CAP level and got nailed, but they were actually at 31k. Might just be a new group and raw pilots, all around 50/70 but no kills and no high exp pilot to lead. I'll put that in today.

A bombing raid came in next, and while the Tojos did better, this green group still did not get to as many bombers as they should have. Too bad, as this was a great opportunity. Still the losses were surprisingly even once all of the ops were taken into account after the battle.

On the 30th and 31st more sweeps and bombing runs arrived at Myitkyina. Results are even, with light losses on each side, but the field is no shut. This is all good as it gives Katha a breather and gets forts back to building there. At least for a few days. It's at level 4 and 75%. So a few more days and we should get level 5.

During the daylight raids on the 1st of February more hurt was put on the fields, but as this raid was predicted, I had extra LR CAP in the area. The Allies definitely paid for this raid, as the sweeps came late during the afternoon phase.

When I get back to tracker I'll try to get air losses for the 5 day period of intense fighting here.

In about 6 months you're going to really hate the P-47s on high altitude sweeps. The damn things are killing everything I throw up at them.

I agree! Jocke constantly fumes about how poor P-40s are performing. He does have good days though, and at Noumea getting the bombers through caused some big problems for me!

I already anticipate the hate I will feel for the P-47. It's growing inside me. I can only hope to have the Tojo Ic and some Georges by the time it arrives to maybe get a few of them out of the air.

subs: Things are still messy under the water. No TKs targeted lately though.

Our first big convoy of 15 ships with 8 TK and an AV are now arriving at Tokyo, delivering 90k+ of oil. Each of these three big convoys that I've created so far has a hand picked admiral with good naval skill and about a 25 ASW rating among the escorts.

On the 6th, after a persistent effort, our sub killers finally hit something hard. It took three attacks, but DDs dropped a series of good hits on the Wahoo and it is left showing 'heavy damage' after the turn. No sinking sounds are heard, but it's a long way home from near Nagasaki.

Sargo takes out an ASW PB in the Sulu Sea. A Kiso. These are pretty hopeless at this point in the war for ASW.

Also on the 5th and 6th, air ASW gets going over Noumea especially. There appear to be about 6-8 subs patrolling there. A Kate from Kaga-3 gets an interesting report when it attacks two subs in one run! Has anyone seen this before? Looks like he may be using subs in TFs of two sometimes. This confirms some roll-over reports showing two ships in a sub TF we've gotten for a long while. Like that they were both attacked and a hit was reported. I wonder if that is then registered as a hit on both subs?

So Pac: On the 3rd Anatom and Noumea are crushed. 2 Nicks lost on the ground at Noumea. Ships are now in the area to get the Nicks out, but I'm wary of moving in with the bombers at Tanna again looking dangerous. I might lose the group here.

Luganville gets the treatment on the 4th.

On the 5th our night bombing Nells finally drop the quarter in the cup and get a good tally of planes on the ground. It was only after this that I discovered I'd been ignoring our HR and bombing at night at less than 50% moonlight! OOOPs!

I told Jocke and immediately stood them down. He didn't seem to bothered though and hadn't noticed himself. Whew.

JPC: Only one unit has come all of the way to the border and met our guarding brigade on the Southern portion of the KMT-governed part of China. So this doesn't look like a breakout attempt as yet.

Burma: Some sweeps went over Akyab on the 3rd, our Tojos coming out maybe slightly better against the Hurri Ic after ops losses. The interesting part is that he stood down and moved the fighters out after the day's battles. He does not want to trade in this area, especially using the British.

His CAP was layered with 4 groups, 2 at 31k and 2 at 10k. Good to know. My bombing runs have often come in higher than 10k to reduce the flak effects, so not sure what he's doing with that.

One of the most renowned and successful US subs of the war, Wahoo went missing in late 43 near Northern Japan. It was recently found and confirmed by a Russian oil company in 2006.

While there is a good chance these ships will be found out, with the recon unit aboard Akagi this operation would still have some validity. After a short exploratory period with the scout forces, the main CV group will move with only Jakes searching from Chiyoda and get within 21 hex Judy recon range of Pearl first.

If it is as lightly defended as sigint implies, a strike may occur shortly thereafter. Timing will be everything.

If this doesn't pan out, then an exploration of the West Coast will ensue, with a move to toward Seattle to check out the port there first.

All 3 CVs carry full Judy groups, and the Taiho has the first active Jills, so extra range against land targets.

This being the first opportunity I've had to meet the Allies on the ground in Burma I'm not sure what to expect. I have no idea if he can get enough supply in to be effective, how much he has brought or which way he'll turn.

If he goes North toward Katha, I will have supply problems and have difficulty mounting an effective air defense, but the terrain is great for me and the forts are solid. The 3rd Tank division is moving from the mountains and has been bought out. It will reinforce this area.

If he goes South toward Shwebo and brings tanks into the clear we'll have more chances to use the air force against them, but he will use his as well. The defenses are more concentrated and thus it will be harder to break through this area. Reinforcements will also be able to come in the next month from OZ and the South Pacific. There are 3 divisions slated to move to Burma, one on the way already.

I was slightly concerned about the Indian division moving from Akyab onto the long yellow road toward Prome, but it appears to be turning back. Supply? Change of mind?

QUESTIONS:

1. Should I meet the Allies in the rail hex they now occupy or let them move to our defenses? I am inclined to sit back and let them choose where to go while forts continue to build, but if the forces from Katha and Shwebo joined the 3k+ AV would be hard to move.

2. Should I plant any troops in the woods near Akyab to fight farther forward? Again, I lean toward letting the Allies move down a long and suspect supply path to meet us where they will, either at Prome or through the jungle somewhere toward Central Burma.

3. Should I place the new Air HQ forward in Mandalay or Magwe, or keep it back in Rangoon and bomb from there? I will have more base forces to provide support in both areas, but I'm thinking to push this one forward so it can affect the fighters up to Katha.
