Don't forget to factor in the arty rating of the FO when utilizing indirect fire. I've found this means a lot. Supposedly, direct LOS is critical to indirect fire accuracy, but from what I'm getting in my current play of U2R that isn't necessarily true.
Granted, direct LOS is going to help. But I have an FO Jeep with 86 arty rating. My core includes 4 x M12 155 SPA, I have no trouble at all leaving the FO Jeep parked with the artillery and delivering fire pretty much where I want it. So far as 60mm mortar indirect goes, it is deadly accurate, without EVER seeing the selected target! 4.2" mortar is sort of in between, without the punch the 155's deliver.
All I'm saying here is the FO can't be left out of calculations when discussing indrect arty fire, onboard or off - and response times are accordingly tops with high rated FO. Availability seems to be the same, no matter what.
