Turn 1 –7 generally I drive for space. Turns 8-11 pocket and then drive for space 12 - 17 and again during snow.

8421 is very aggressive much like TDV20 is so I have to change tactics mid game to take advantage of the weakness of 8421 game plan.

Seems his tactics are to with draw find weak flank areas and attack. If I can hold pocket I have bagged 35 units or about 250,000 men.
8421 has a bad habit of throwing good money after bad, so I am hoping he doubles down on this tactic this turn. I also have a major pocket forming to south.

Status: offline 		I can't beleive he didn't pull back the turn before on that Mogilev pocket. It looked pretty obvious what you were trying to do, and he just sat there and let you do it.

In fact, it could have been worse, if you were able to close it further east. Bad enough as it is.

Status: offline 		I think hes been playing vs less exp German players and had and easy go of it.

I think its a shock to many Russian players when they play someone that has some exp playing German side.

They played 3 to 5 German and had an easy go of it, many getting the german to quit before spring of 42. These are 1.05 games by the way.

My game vs TDV I have lost 24 German divisions and he has pushed me over both rivers, but there is a cost to how he is doing it.

This myth about Russians not having a good blizzard is a bag of sht myth.

Its what your play style is and how you want to build you army. The problem is mostt russian are building 43 armys in 41/42 winter.

AGN: I am to back door with 4 turns before mud.

AGC+AGN: Closed a large pocket with 31 units in it.

Another possible pocket in the center could form next turn.

AGS: 5 units cut off and a infantry breakthrough north of Kharkov. 1st PG HQed up 2 corp that will be sweeping south through this hole next turn to roll up south to Rostov.

Over all the Russian lines seem to be cracking in many locations.

AGN: Leningrad cut off. 17 units cut off there. I bomb port closed next turn to cut off supplies.
AGN+AGC: the 30 unit pocket gets opened by one hex, but 8421 keeps throwing good money after bad and I make a solid 30 unit pocket PLUS pocket another 19 that came to save the day.
I throw in all of 1st PG into the push and move to with in 7 hexes of Moscow.

I finally reduce the first large pocket I had and 12 more infantry divisions are back at the front.

AGS: has 7 units pocketed in small pockets.

73 infantry units are cut off at this time. If he keeps throwing good money after bad I have more then 100 next turn.

I could easly wait until November to kill them, which would be the end of 8421.
I might not have a choose, I am sure I will not beable to kill them all off by turn 18 anyways.

OUCH!  500k to 1m more losses!  Quite a week!

Does he have any kind of screen on strong terrain behind the front lines that your armor is having to contend with (ZOC), or are you running wild like it's still June once you crack the front?

In my current server game my opponent is stalled in the mud, but I'm wondering if he'll do the hot knife / butter routine on me once the snows fall.  We're playing random weather (which has already worked out for both of us), so he can't plan with certainty, but it's now 10/30 and I'm thinking I may have to give him some more terrain to avoid a nasty surprise like that.  TOE on most of my army is over 70%, with probably 80% over 80%.  I've got some decent entrenchments as well due to his southern diversion buying me time, but I can't really judge what his snow CVs will look like compared to mine.

Status: offline 		So out of your 12 - 1 - 1 how many of those were against noobs?  This opponent, no offense to him, seems to have a lot to learn when playing the Soviets.  That is normal for newer players.   Unless something changes, I'm not sure what the value of this game will be to you?  If it's just about winning then maybe, but personally I prefer a challenge.   Your opponent hopefully will learn a lot, but what he learns will probably be too late to save him in this game.   Guess we'll see.

8421 is better then 2 out of 3 Russian players beleive it or not. Most Russians just are plain bad. I think because of the fact there are so few good German players, so their tactics that work before can easly be over came. 8421 is changing things up and he uses allot of cav, so I am expecting a very nasty blizzard if hes 1/2 as good as TDV.

Most Russian players have no idea at all the tools they have in their tool kits for blizzards, thankfully.

12 - 1 - 1 with 5 on going.

8 games ended in 41 ( 8-0-0)
4 games ended in 42 (3-0-1)
2 games ended in 43 (1-1-0).

If you look at the over -all games, you can see of the 14 8 ended in 41.

5 on going
2 in 41
2 in 42
1 in 43

Of the 5 on going
1 I am losing out right.
1 I will probably lose or draw.
Other 3 are up in the air.

AGN: 18 units cut off. Back door hex was cleard out, but I had no units to move into it. Should be NP clearing next turn with no fort there. 2 mech units are on way.
AGC: 53 units cut off.
AGS: 5 units cut off.

Total: 78 units cut off.

8421 does a good job every turn reopening the huge pocket, but the next turn the pocket gets bigger and stronger.
3 guards divisions are now in the pocket.
I have 2 mech and 8 more infantry divisions getting to pocket.
