1944 September 06 The Empire captured: The Allies captured: There were Imperial amphibious or airborne operations at: There were Allied amphibious or airborne operations at: Imperial Naval Bombardments Allied Naval Bombardments: Allied Ships Bombarding Vinh Allied Ships Bombarding Ternate Our subs had some action between Japan and China but got no hits. Quiet in China on the ground. Chungking LI was hit again with predictably lesser results (more rubble vs less operating industry). The B-29 groups lost 3x ships today and will rest. Their next assignment is unclear, but transfers to the Marianas are not far off. SW of Chumphon our three divisions destroyed the enemy on the road. quote:

The armour will take quite a while to catch up. Victoria Point port is now size 3 and will build to size 4 (the maximum). The attack near Hanoi also destroyed the defenders, that after dozens of squads were destroyed from the air. Vinh is about to fall. quote:

They fought through to target despite serious losses, but to no ultimate effect. Both infantry divisions are moving on Hanoi. The four armored units are moving on Haiphong (in combat formation). The CA TF is already in position and will bombard Vinh tonight, supporting the continued deliberate attack. It is clear that the shock attack with immediate followup by some armor cracked the defenses at Vinh. The USA 96th Infantry Division and XI Corps Engineer Group have unloaded at Cam Ranh bay and will rail to Tourane before passing through Vinh to join the offensive. Ternate. quote:
