Truk was advanced learning as far as amphibious invasions go. You see benefits of the knowledge and wisdom gained there in most of the later invasions.

I think he was flying troops in some but I'm not sure how much. The gap between some of the attacks might have contributed to AV recovery, too. One thing to keep in mind is that, generally, most destroyed squads were already disabled. As a rough guide - very rough - I look at disabled devices and ignore destroyed devices when I am trying to get a feeling for how a particular combat outcome might affect AV subsequently. I know it's not strictly true but the ratio of destroyed squads that were already disabled to those that were not is heavy enough that it's a useful SWAG.

Only 3 infantry divisions plus the artillery and all but 2 of the armoured units attacked, and we got the fortifications reduced, dealt substantial damage and certainly kept the defenders' disruption high. All our troops will rest now, but possibly only for a day. We are on track to take Singapore by year end - almost exactly! 3,451 AV at Singapore.

Palembang cleanup will continue tomorrow. Cocos Islands preparation continues, and it appears that the ghost ship fleet has met its demise.

Attacks tomorrow at Roxas and Cotabato. Troops at Davao and Legaspi will rest another day.

At Canton 2,984 AV and the troops will rest for 2 days. At Kukong 1 day rest only, and in the mountains the trouble is gathering enough supply for the next attack. The A-20 models are still taking it on the chin, the skies over Kukong proving no safer than the skies over Canton.

Singapore AV is 3,543. Tomorrow we attack with 4 divisions that have disruption 17% or less, and all other units (which are in fine shape).

Already switched the battleships to Okinoerabushima right after Amami Oshima was taken. As for their future use, the battleships go where amphibious operations go.
