China frontier. There is continued bandit activity at Kalgan, but an Allied armoured unit will arrive tomorrow and quell things until the Chinese infantry arrives.

Home Islands west. Forgot to renew the attack orders at Matsuyama with the orders re-do. Tomorrow the two freshest divisions will attack, the other two the day after. Meanwhile the infantry and armor has arrived at Takamatsu and the artillery is just behind. All will attack the day after tomorrow.

The farthest Kumamoto assault convoys are loading supplies. Once they set out for the East China Sea, the others will begin loading.

China east. With 788 AV available to provide for their own defense, many units will now move into Shanghai, including a number of Allied artillery units that will be sorely needed. Many more units are still enroute and will be required before the first attack.

Hi Witpqs...

Nice updates - thank you.

I wonder if you could take a moment to elaborate on Kamikaze ?

You have mentioned however only in passing. Usually as a function of number of planes or just a few attacks. I think going back a few pages I may recall one hit on a CVE (??) but perhaps not even that - perhaps that was just a regular hit or a sub.

You are landing troops, sweeping, bombing, etc etc etc.

Your opponent is obviously in bad shape but I presumed and assumed he marshaled a significant force of Kamikaze for end game i.e. attack on the Home Islands.

But no such evidence ?

There is evidence and activity, but so far the Allied fighter umbrella has contained the menace. There are also very significant concentrations of fighters that do not defend, and therefore are either kamikaze, escorts for kamikaze (bombers), or both. Soon after Saishu To will be the invasion of Kumamoto, and Nagasaki has >350 fighters and is only 1 hex away. Measures will be taken!

At Matsuyama our divisions will again rotate. They are in good shape so the rotation will surely wipe out the defenders before long. Takamatsu was an easier target and, barring intervention, will fall to us tomorrow.

Our carriers (all CVE) heading north to support the Saishu To operation had a little action.

8 x TBM-1C Avenger launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 1 x 22.4in Mk 13 Torp.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Always good to sink mine layers.

The last of the Kumamoto convoys loading in the Marianas has completed that task and all are heading for Nago, hence loading of troops closer to the target will now begin.

796 transport aircraft will drop the USA 11th Airborne Division and 503rd Parachute Regiment on Saishu To tomorrow. 8 old USB BB will bombard, several groups of B-24J will strike defensive positions from 5,000 ft, and all the CVE borne torpedo bombers embarked with the mission will do the same. Saishu To looks like a soft target for air strikes as only 27 guns have been spotted by long term recon. Most support units for Saishu To have completed loading and are putting to sea.

There has been tremendous amount of mine clearing activity at Osaka/Kyoto and Kobe, but our mine fields are still in place there and at Hiroshima/Kure.
