Your troops have some pretty good anti-armour values by now, so unless the Japanese made a bunch of Type 3 tanks you should be OK.
I seem to recall the last-ditch Japanese reinforcements of the HI being called "Depot Division". That could have been changed in an update because it is a tip-off that the troops are green and poorly equipped.

Can Tracker trace those division numbers in the CR and find out if they are being rebuilt from earlier destruction?

No, I don't think Tracker has that. It would be in the combat reports in at least many cases. They must be so below strength I'll just assume they are reconstituted but without the reconstitution.

As far as the armor goes it's just their defensive value I'm thinking about: shooting up my tanks as they try to take down fortifications and so on.

Can't you just can check the tracker for when and where the units were before, check the combat results and then see when the units show up in the Home Islands again in the tracker? That way, you would have an idea for when they were reconstituted and thus about how strong and well equipped they aren't. This tells me that if I ever play a human player, I would need to keep track of when I think that I killed an entire unit.

He probably cut off the supplies to Shikoku to limit his supply losses. Although, unless there had been a very large stockpile of oil/fuel and resources, he could be running out since he has been unable to bring much in lately plus the added demands of the rebuilding/new units and any reconstruction of damaged industries.

Are you saying that enemy LCU show up in Tracker?

Home Islands west. Except for the USA 38th ID, tardy as mentioned before, all troops are now ashore at Kumamoto and are in fantastic shape. There have been casualties among the ships and will be more but the news is decidedly positive. The 38th loaded with a full complement of supplies and is already at sea one hex from Taihoku. They should begin unloading at Kumamoto on the third day from now. Meanwhile the forces already there will attack tomorrow. Today saw meaningful attrition of the defenders every time the stuck their heads up. The IJ bombardment resulted in 660 casualties, that after a naval bombardment, gunfire support for both troops and supply landing, and air strikes. Tonight two USN old BB and eight USN fast BB will apply their disruptive effect to the defenses.

Farther out, just offshore, a CVE was torpedoed in a night attack, the only ship casualty of the air strikes.
quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Air attack on TF, near Kumamoto at 102,59

Weather in hex: Partial cloud

Raid spotted at 108 NM, estimated altitude 18,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 37 minutes

Japanese aircraft
G4M2a Betty x 7

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M2a Betty: 2 damaged

Allied Ships
CVE Casablanca
CVE Suwannee, Torpedo hits 1

Aircraft Attacking:
7 x G4M2a Betty launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 1 x 45cm Type 91 Torp

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many night strikes were scattered by fighters, but that one got through. The ships most damaged over the last couple of days are being grouped together into an escort TF bound for Hong Kong. The defenders on the ground are probably in even worse shape than this tally lets on.

I have not been able to get Intel monkey/tracker to work properly and since I am usually laying on my bed when I am using the computer, it is tedious to get things straightened out in that position.

Yes, where the enemy unit was in the tracker/Intel Monkey stuff. Then it will disappear for awhile if it was killed, then it would show up again but probably back in the Home Islands. That would at least give you an idea when the unit was killed and then when it was bought back.

But like I also said, it would be a a good idea to keep track of killed then rebuilt units separately to at least give you an idea of the strength of the rebuilt units.

With the road/rail net on the Home Islands the situation in terms of what a particular invasion is facing can change too fast for that to be useful. The overall situation doesn't matter to me - the invasions are going in no matter what!

Of course I am sure that we have firepower superiority over the defenders in the home Islands, so I'm not worried that they might overwhelm us, only that they might stymie our advances at certain points. That's the reason for invading at four widely separated points.

Hold them by the nose and kick them in the . . . (Some people might complain if I finished it!)

With your floating artillery, you can also put the hurt on at any coastal targets - as long as there are no minefields there. Would it help if you put minesweepers in bombardment task forces? Keeping the task forces a long way from the coastal defense guns, of course.

Also, by attacking at multiple disparate points, you can cut up the Home Defense network and then destroy the pieces. Much like what the Finns did to the Soviets in the Winter War.

China east. We have almost 6,600 AV in Shanghai now and probably about 3,000 more on the way. I've decided to order the first attack for tomorrow because we are already over stacked. This way we can simply pull out mauled units to recover and alleviate over stacking at the same time. The attack will receive only current air support: no additional squadrons or naval bombardments for tomorrow.

Home Islands west. Heavy attacks against support of our beachhead continued and yielded another night torpedo hit and a day kamikaze hit. There were also surface attacks by different types of small combatants and one by a destroyer. There was also a sub attack. The naval bombardments again were undaunted and had punishing effects. Our ground attack went well but was bloody, more so for us.

We have 1,731 AV at Kumamoto after the attack. Our ground troops have been safe from air attack and punishing any attempts at artillery bombardment and so should recover quickly. The Imperials are hit night and day and should remain hurt. Now compare the Imperial AV to that of yesterday, and compare the units present! I would say that while the Empire's reinforcement efforts certainly shored up the defenses and will delay us, they have not stopped that invasion. Several dive bomber groups have been moved up to start dropping 1,000 pound bombs from 5,000 ft and others are staging their way in. Also moving up a number of land based TB squadrons to add the weight of their 500 pound bombs. When the next attack is ready we will also bring in as many of the P-51B and P-38 ground attack assigned squadrons as nearby airbases can support.

Imperial units at Kumamoto yesterday (left) and today (right), sorted and spaced to highlight newly arrived units. The amount of armour that the Empire rushed in is particularly noteworthy. Recon of Kumamoto shows 38 units of 72,720 troops with 668 guns and 1,568 AFV.

A very good job at pulling in and mauling his reinforcements! You are doing a good job of killing his tanks.

This should make it easier for the next invasion.

Your air and ground crews deserve a for their work.

I am hoping the vehicle casualties for the Empire are all tanks since I suspect they have little motorized support such as the Allies have. I suppose the next attack will tell us more.

The Japanese still have Nates? Aren't they already out of date when the war starts?
