1944 September 05 The Empire captured: The Allies captured: Endeh There were Imperial amphibious or airborne operations at: There were Allied amphibious or airborne operations at: Imperial Naval Bombardments Allied Naval Bombardments: Allied Ships Bombarding Ternate Allied Ships Bombarding Ternate Allied Ships Bombarding Cotabato Our subs got 2x xAKL, both west of Hong Kong. Quiet on the ground in China. Our sweeps over Chungking got one or two defenders. The B-29s got almost three dozen LI hits. See the pic below. Hopefully even more damage shows up in succeeding days, but damaged plants are known to absorb hits proportionately. More of just air action and ground movement on the SEAC front. The armour moving south from Chumphon is stopping to smell the roses about every 1/4 mile. I've grown impatient with that and the three divisions already in contact with the Imperials will attack tomorrow. Aside from those near Chiang Mai hunting down holdouts, the entire Chinese Army outside of China disembarked at Victoria Point today and man were they hungry - I mean the base is now seriously over crowded. They will move as quickly as possibly to Chumphon to board trains for Indochina. The attack at Vinh went very well, as did the one near Hanoi. quote:

Defending units: 22nd Ind.Mixed Brigade 3rd Ind.Mixed Brigade -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The results at Vinh are quite impressive. All but three armored units will attack tomorrow as the infantry swore no booze until the battle is won, got to bed early and made an amazing recovery. The Empire invested in several air strikes on our troops near Hanoi and in CAP over their own. Our LRCAP of crack pilots in P-51B models from Uttaradit had difficulty holding them back for the distance from their base but took a bite out of them. On the flip side out escorts of various P-38 and P47 marks were plenty a match for the enemy CAP. Near Hanoi the 2/4th Armoured Regiment attacked alone and still got 3 to 1 odds! Even better, only one unit was retreated so the other one can be attacked by an even greater force tomorrow. Air strikes coupled with the combat have heavily disrupted the 2/4th and air attacks alone heavily disrupted the 192nd, so both will sit out tomorrow's battle. The 706th and 711th will make a deliberate attack. The two infantry divisions will arrive during the day, too late for the attack. Hue airfield has built to size 9 and a whole mess of engineer units are switching to strategic move mode for the anticipated ride to Vinh. Ternate defenses could be seen cracking today. quote:

Steady attacks will take them down within two to three weeks. Indochina. It looks like a division has taken position between Hanoi and Lang Son. The only unit seen in Hanoi is moving east, and must be the one just retreated. A small, ~1,600 troops, unit is still the only one seen in Haiphong. A likely AT unit is in the jungle east of Lang Son and another appears to be joining it from the east. In Lang Son itself we see 6 units, totaling less than 4,000 troops. Two units of 1,700 troops at Lao Cai.
