I have done a count of the new aircraft types that are in this scenario, and I was surprised to discover that there are 25 that do not appear in any stock scenarios.

RAF B.E.2a an old 1915 aircraft with over 3,000 built,at present time this is not in the game, aircraft shown because it was one of the first aircraft used by the British in France during world war 1.

It was also a piece of ****. The "rear" gunner actually sat in the front seat, it had the movement of a turtle with asthma, and was as reliable as an AM Pacer. BUT, it looks great Kirk!

Edit: The 1 1/2 strutter looks great too!

I'm sure you have noticed that there are fewer aircraft in each squadron, because that is the case I have increased the number of squadron but reduced there aircraft numbers, swings and roundabouts really but much more historical!

Kirk23, I just found this great scenario yesterday and love it. You've done a great job, not only on the scenario itself but the beautiful Art work as well. I've started games from both sides and this is the best I've played in a long time, You've really brought this game back to life for me. I'm a member of the Subsim forums and I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to let everone know out there about this great scenario, and promote some interest out there for your scenario and this still outstanding game. Thanks for all your hard work!

Regards:
Captain Rockwell Torry

Kirk,

In case the questions comes up in the future, if someone has to reload their WPO game or someone loads it up for the 1st time and installs your scenario, do they need to install each of the six updates or can they just install the last one, which is currently #6?

Thanks

Hi Kirk,
Due to really severe time constraints these days (also known as Real Life), I have not been able to really dive into it yet. But that said, the most significant thing I have noticed so far is that since the Japs don´t have pre-formed task forces, the commander of the Philippines has much more time to get organized before the onslaught begins. I think it could be possible, if you move fast enough, to stop the Japs on the beaches. With me they managed to land but they haven´t come close to moving any further. Clark Field has been in no danger at all, and there is no way they can take Bataan.
As for the naval end of things, some very nice fleet actions after about the third turn. Good stuff!

Anyone have any more comments on CASTLES OF STEEL SCENARIO?

I played about a month's worth of COS before I had to stop in January.

I think it can be interesting from a PBEM standpoint. Both sides fleets are massive, and the BBs in particular seem to be able to absorb much more damage then before. Even if the Japanese were to lose an entire battle fleet, it wouldn't necessarily be the end of the game for them, as they have a lot more where that came from (for once). With that in mind, I think logistics and grand strategy would become more important since neither side seems able to deliver a quick knock-out blow. The aircraft element is interesting too - the increased ranges and capability some of the aircraft changes things a bit, and I think I recall you saying that torpedoes and mines have been boosted, too. Quite a different game then stock WPO.
