Hi- Just this week the game is running really slowly and response time to scroll the map and to button presses has got much longer. I didn't do anything to the game or the switches- however since I have had the problem I have been fiddling with the switches to see if I can improve it- but with limited success. I have deleted the -dd-sw switch I had in before which has improved it a bit- but nothing to what it was like before?. I did install Panzer Command Ostfront last week which wanted a New Net framework installation, but cant beleive that would affect it. I did update my graphics driver to the latest driver for ATI Radeon HD4800( and cant roll back to double check thats the cause)to stop a couple of CTD in Ostfront.

Any ideas on what I could try- I have two PBEM games going where we were keen to churn some goes this week- but I cant at the speed the game is running.

Running Windows XP with a Intel I7 and an ATI Radeon HD4800. My latest switch is as follows "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -deepcolor -fd -multiaudio -archive -f -px1280 -py800 -cpu8, and running beta 1108r6

I don't know if this will help your problem but:
1. Only use either the -f or -fd switch both are calling for full screen
2. It should be -deepColor it is case sensitive
3. Do you really have an 8 core processor? I would try -cpu2 instead

Other than that, all I can think of is the driver update did something.

There are several video driver versions out there that can affect performance.  You can use -cpu1, -cpu2, -cpu3, or -cpu4 if you have 4 cores.  there is also -SingleCpuStart and -SingleCpuOrders which may help individually or together.

Updating .NET wouldn't make any difference, the game doesn't use it.

Thanks for the advice.

Dont know where the extra -f came from- must have been some poor cutting and pasting between the various beta versions!

Deleted and reloaded graphics drivers last night ( still to the same one) and updated sound card driver and then fiddled with the switches and finally got it running fast again.

For info now using switches War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -deepColor -fd -multiaudio -archive -px1280 -py800 -cpu4 -dd_sw

Glad you got it working, one thing that trips me up now and then is scrolling with search arcs set to on (displayed on screen) that noticeably slows my machine down.
