Sorry to hear you had to put the new game on hold, but thanks for letting us know...hopefully all goes well.

I'd like to make an avatar from some of the tile counters taken from the new game... if that's ok with you....if you could post some tiles I'll use them but if not I can grab some some screens from Forced March web site.

Thanks and All the BEST!
Jack

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the encouragement.

Yes, the avatar is fine with me. What specific tiles did you want?

Greetings Orm the Strong!

Do you think the game will be released in time for Christmas, this year?

Well, I don't know. I've had to take contract work and put Fall of Rome on the back burner. But I hope to get back to putting more time into it.

That's a somewhat weak answer, but it's the best that I can do right now.

Can I expect the game to be released with Matrix

I certainly hope and expect that this will be the case. You don't need to check anywhere else. But I will also post something on forcedmarchgames.com when the time is right.

Thanks for your interest!

Thank you, Mercenarius the Wise.

After all the joy I have had with this game I am eagerly awaiting the next game.

This is what I wanted to do...OK? My signature will say what game it's been adapted from...

That sounds good. Here is your tile. I hope that it helps.

I upgraded your command rating - why not?

Well, right now I am still doing paid work on another project, unfortunately. But I do expect to do some work on the battle system and post new screen shots in next couple of weeks.

I don't have a release date right now, unfortunately.

Thanks for asking!

Yes, there has.

Now, I had promised some screen shots. Then I didn't provide them.

The short answer is that I realized that I needed to add something to the tactical battle system before I can give you guys a taste of it.

The long answer is that I had to program a way to generate double-sized tiles and all of their icons and markers. That took quite a bit of time.

Now I am back on track and I hope to provide some screen shots of the tactical battle system very soon. Maybe by next weekend.

Thanks for your continued interest!

Yeah. A decent amount. But here is a sign of progress:

That is taken from the battle of Watling Street, which is one of the
battle scenarios. I don't know if the battle system is going to be
complex enough to provide a lot of interest by itself, but I'd
like to have something a little more detailed than in "Hannibal" and
with more command and movement.

Some of the graphics are placeholders. When I finish the current
contract that I am working on I'm going to arrange for some new
battle graphics. The artists who did the work on the strategy
map did a good job on it, I think. But the first generation of
graphics for the battle system did not hit the target.

Anyway, I'll post more samples as I program functionality into
the battle system.

Thanks for the progress update. More movement and detail to the combat seems like a great idea. Still a 'day one buy' for me; I continue to wait ahhh...'patiently' lol

All the BEST!

Looks very interesting!

Since the Battle of Watling Street took place during the Boudicca Rebellion in Britain in AD 60 (or 61), does this mean the game will also have grand campaigns for multiple periods of Roman history?

In any case, I'm sure this will be a day one purchase for me.

Well, how Grand is Grand?

I certainly intend to have a number of shorter scenarios, which would run from about 20 turns to a maximum of about 80 turns (20 years).

I also hope to have about 3 longer scenarios as well. But I will have to finish the battle system and a few of the shorter scenarios before I can tackle the issue of the grand campaigns.

I don't have a date yet. I am trying to raise some new capital in order to work on "The Fall of Rome" full-time at least until Electric Games gets started on a follow-up to "Napoleon." I expect to work on that project as a contractor.

What game mechanics from "Napoleon" in particular would you like to see used in other games?

I haven't dared getting any Napoleonic games lately. To many disappointments in the past.

Although I am considering getting back into the time period soon.

But I still hope that your next release will be available for Christmas.

Well, I am back to working on Fall of Rome (mostly) full time but I don't know if December is possible. I've been working on improving the seasonal changes in the game's map and while that is mostly chrome it needed to be done. I hope to post improved screen shots at the end of this week.

Thanks for the continued interest!

I have posted a couple of new screenshots on my website (www.forcedmarchgames.com). It's nothing too exciting, really. The shots taken during the Winter season now show the proper winter map effects. There's a nice shot of Britannia with Hadrian's Wall during Autumn. 3 of the others are unchanged.

As I wrote a few days ago, the seasonal effects are mostly chrome but they help a little. And the game is progressing.
