Actually, other than the loss of the carriers, that might be a fight that I want as the Allies.

Hobart is good defensive terrain and if he can keep it supplied, there is a good chance for bleeding those units and at least keeping you focused at the end of a long logistical chain.

Will grant that point, however, he will be completely cutoff from supply. Since I was using this location as a jumping off point for taking New Zealand I am in very good shape with supply and troops. Fuel is a little dicey but should be OK once I have sunk about 100 more Allied ships.

If the Allies got 100k of supply perhaps it will hold, but...how long??

Anyway, if the allied player quit, I would be happy to follow the game. It's really interesting!!

USS Saratoga has tried desperately to escape the Japanese Sea Eagles over the last three days. Day ONE saw a pair of bombs hit her with an Ammo Storage Explosion. Day TWO saw six more bombs and a Fuel Explosion occur. Now, limping along for home with 2 DDs, she is found at a range of less then 100 miles from 3 Japanese CVs. A FINAL Strike of 23 Zero and 48 Val is launched. Both DDs take 3-4 hits and sink. Their charge takes EIGHTEEN bombs and rolls over under the joyous eyes of the Nipponese pilots.

Allied Losses for the Day:
CV Saratoga, CL Phoenix, 8 DDs, 6 AP, and 3 AK with nearly two dozen more damaged

All this carnage is really impressive, you should rename your AAR "AFB worst nightmare"
your opponent is very brave to not surrender and als... a little masochist

Another day brings battle (massacre) for shipping at Hobart. A two BB Bombardment TF swings into Hobart and battles its way through PT Boats, a DD, does its bombardment of the AF--Pt (destroying 11 planes and doing 445 Casualties), and moves away only to run into 3 AP and 2 AK attempting to unload their cargo. Suffice it to say these wessels are no more...

Total KNOWN Losses for the Allies in this Operation:
CV: Saratoga and Wasp
CVE: Hammondsport and Long Island
CA: Quincy
CL: Phoenix and Detroit
DD: 21
AK: 22
AP: 23
AV: 1
PT: 10

GOODNESS!

The last organized resistance on the continent of Australia ends when the 3rd Inf Div and a batch of Base Forces surrender to the first Japanese Attack at Alice Springs. The campaign has taken about 8-10 weeks longer then I planned (it is, after all, a BIG place!) but it has been magnificent. The Victory Point tally is now 5-1 in favor of Dai Nippon.

Just another day at the office:

1. A STF sinks AP President Polk and an AK.

2. The KB launches 42 Z, 41 V, and 42 K sinking 5 AP and an AK near New Zealand. Another couple of AKs are seriously hit and left in sinking condition.
