So I was considering one of these, simply because I don't own any of them, but I want to get the most "fun" one out of the bunch. Historical accuracy is not all that important, but "fun" is. Thanks.

1. Chariots of War
2. Legion Arena Gold
3. Spartan/Troy (probably get both of these to get the maps.)
4. Great Battles Medieval
5. Legion Gold
6. Tin Soldiers JC
7. Tin Soldiers Alexander

I may end up trying them all eventually, but which one to start. FUN , remember fun.

This is in celebration of getting a response in the Combat Command forum.

Owning all of them there is really not a bad choice amongst them.

1. 3. 5. are all very similar though 3. is the most polished - more a case of pick your favourite era.

2. and 4. are again very similar 4. is more polished - again pick you favourite era.

6. and 7. again it is a case of pick your favourite historical great.

Over all my recommendation would be between 3. and 4. (or 2. if you really want ancients)

3. if you want strategic empire building 4. if you want to focus more on the tactical with some unit improvement / advancement with quick playing (10-30 mins) battles in an ongoing campaign.

If I had to pick just one (which was after all your question) I'd go with Great Battles Medieval.

I believe the Tin SOldiers series was a greta little game, sadly they went out of business\stopped developing I believe. A shame. One thing to bear in mind is whther you can use modern resolutions though. This is a killer on ymsystem as I can't choose between black borders and stretch so pretty much anygame not at res 1400x900 is blurred.

Wodin, how well the Forgotten Few know about comapny problems.

Ok, you guys twisted my arm and responded quickly before the water gets murky. I will get 4 and 7.

I probably will end up getting all of them eventually. I have tomorrow off, and I just finished BA Market Garden.

Thanks for the help.

Well I like Great Battles so far. Time will tell, but it's pretty "fun" at the moment.

I recently bought GB:M, but was very disappointed with the lackluster battles despite its improved interface and graphics; I actually preferred GB: Rome, even though it had limited replayability compared to this latest title.

Pretty funny Slaakman, you are definitely always entertaining. Thanks for the recommendation.

Terminus,

I think someone got rid of the spam. That's spam, not Slaakman.

They are all great games. My favorites from Slitherine are:

Spartan/Gates of Troy and Legion Arena Gold

Cheers

Legion Gold was a title I was looking at pre Matrix\Slitherine merger. Infact I remember it being released as before that I had my eye on the original legion games..

I'm enjoying Medieval and have several hours of play.

Thanks again guys for helping me pick.

I haven't started Alexander yet, maybe this weekend.

Joe98, is gonna get on me if I don't get his turn back to him in Combat Command. (shameless plug for a great game, but not until they get the withdrawal bug fixed)
