Dunno but German and U.S. WW2 ships(exept Saratoga/Lexington) look all boring and all the same to me. British and Japanese ships on the other side look way more unique to me.

I think you mean "squid" as that is the slang for a sailor. And who in God's name would ever think that sailors are "normal people" to begin with????

I agree with both of these sentiments. The ships designed to operate in the Med tended to be fast, sleek looking vessels.

Now that (USS Alaska) was a beautiful ship. IMO, the most visually appealing class in the USN (though it would have been prettier without that AAA mount on the bow).

It is definitely the Atlanta based on the two-tone paint scheme and the shape of the hull where it meets the main deck.

Here is a picture of Atlanta around the same time period, but with all of her top masts and directors fitted...

You can see the paint scheme and that "knuckle" at the main deck in that picture.

I thought you were talking about the hat... It looks like she does have directors coming out of each side, and that COULD be a rangefinder mounted on the top. A two-tone paint scheme might break up the overwhelming pinkness....
