Alright Carnage, here comes the advice...............stick to as few a/c types as you can. Make sure to limit the families. Like 727, DC9 etc.......each family has a big basic maint fee.

Go to Trident as soon as you can........the Trident 3B beats the 727-200 hands down. That is my opinion anyway.

Do not take any bonds out until the 9th-12th of the month. You want to try and keep the 1st-7th and the 16th-18th of the month as clear of any payments as you can when starting. Payroll gets paid on the end 15th, a/c maint and such is end 24th of the month. Only 24 days to a month.

OK...I have registered for R2.
Siebenburgen Air, based out of MDW.

This time I am going a slightly different route. At least for the start of the game, I am going to economy carrier route (ala SOuthwest).

Only economy class, motley serving mid sized airports, secondary airports for major metro areas when possible.

Request sent to MB ALliance to join.

I am not pulling the plug on R1, just will not do anything other than drop in occasionally to remain status.

I was floating around the idea of a using one of the Messenger chats (windows, yahoo, etc) as a way of speeding up communication among alliance members.

I am on my way to work now, but when I get home tonight I'll see about creating a Windows messenger I D and post the name here. If others do the same we can facilitate real time group chats if necessary, and at the very least asking and answering questions will be bit simpler then it is here.

Ooooooooooh.

I just realized that the following aircraft is available in R2:
CL-44 Yukon

I have already got my initial orders in for more 737s, and will not switch this early on, but I do believe that I will put a big order in for as many as I can afford close to the end of 1970 (when they go out of production).

I ordered 4 right out the gate.........LOL.......No TU114 though.

I spotted that right off.......decided to grab as many as I can without taking a bond out. Carnage might have toasted himself in R2.......he leased an extra 5 gates in Detroit...........I advised him to close that airline down and restart another maybe based out of SNA with the 5700 foot runway........I been looking at that for possible 777-200 deployment in O1. It will barely clear the end but has to use the fuel hog engines.

He thing wih sending 777-200s out of such a smaller airport, with lower pax counts you may capture the entire weekly pax amount in one or two flights (not that that matters if no one is competing with you.

One other thing about SNA's location: it's west coast location may limit he number of high pax airports you can hit.
From that location, will the 777-200 with specially configured engines reach Europe (or how much of it)?
Will it reach the Asian airports?

Nope, will not hit either of them.............I did a 5100 mile search and can range down to South America with 200y pax...........which is my normal config for a 777-200........Only need about 4-6 of them and you pretty much covered the entire spectrum outside the short range plane gap of about 2600 miles. Some Carrib airports are sitting at 3300 miles or so that can take a once a day. Still not sure if it is worth it though.

Just counted them up.........exactly 7 routes with 181y pax and up out of SNA at 2600 to 5100 miles range. And that is the only plane that can hit those destinations while in normal range until the A319-100LR arrives and it can handle the lower pax counts.

Now, there are US airports within that 2600 mile range, but the A320-200 can hit those airports while in normal range.

ok,

Using my cellphone, I registered for ICQ under "siebenburgenair".

Will have to load up ICQ on my computer when I get home tonight.

Never used ICQ before so this will be a learning experience.

R5 update:

Brit Air - Slowly building up and taking over DC Air routes. I've another 2300 of DC air routes to take over! LOL. Profit up to 280M per day. Just can't get enough A330/A340 quick enough to be able to take over these routes. I am just about ok on getting A320/CLJ200LR to take the shorter stuff over.

Maltese air - slowly growing. Upto 160ish in rankings. As there's not a lot of decent Long Range routes from Malta I decided to change the strategy and branch out to across the EU purely looking for up to 2600 mile routes with CLJ200LR's and A320's. There's still several 100+ pax out there from random airports in UK, Sweden etc. Just take a while to find!

I noticed that I'm doing things differently they other alliance members.  It appears that you all just have one route per aircraft.  Are you maximizing your flight hours?  On R2 I have 3 different routes with 1 aircraft and have only 6 hours of down time a week, the maintenance guys must hate me .

If the route is big enough, I will maximize flights. I usually try to be around the 35 and below for down time. Some day they will enact version 4.0 with more accurate maint rates and I try to get used to that.

R5.......first A319-100LR delivered and placed............range 3600 miles making 130,000 a day. SNA-Caracus.............running a 4F/10C/115Y config.

This plane is a winner big time.

Excellent news. I get mine in a bit. Will probably buy loads to replace my 757-200 routes. What's the depreciation rate?

Got the first of mine now. I just need to find some nice routes for the wee thing. Probably St Maarten back to the EU. Long range routes with minimal demand.

Depreciation is 4%

Yep......and I am not using a max config either.........I want the leg room rating too.........but they are perfect for all those smaller long haul routes. Dixie, I would check ABZ I think it is in England..........I seem to remember a ton of long haul routes with 120 pax and such to the US. But it could have changed with the recent airport updates they have been doing. I took some big hits in O2 with those.

Good call thanks! I've found some nice little earners and stuck some flights on. The next wave of A330s will take care of some more Looks like the older members of the fleet will be staying on for a bit longer...

ABZ is not that great.............there are a ton out of EDI and GLA though, even some 175-200 pax routes. I found enough that I am seriously thinking about grabbing some larger planes from the used bin and doing some routing.

I do remember a couple of times checking routes in O2 because he DoP was down to like $2500.
The amazing thing was that I still had some profit even though the airport had zero pax..... Lol

Here is the link for ICQ.  Be forewarned, when you install that program, it will change your search engine and homepage to their site stuff .  Easy enough to fix but a pain none the less.

Great, care to walk me thru how to change the stuff back to what I have set before I d/l the thing?

On a side note, I love reading all the posts over there about "how do people grow so fast"......watch the used bin like a hawk. DUH.

I have the lead in most of the newer jets in O2......most from the used bin.

Dixie, I just snagged about 7 of the bigger routes out of GLA and EDI with 757-200 off the used bin. Could not pass them up.

O1 Air France will take a huge hit at month end.........will be lucky to stay out of the red zone at 8 mil a day............might get lucky, but expect to go red. Danged used bin and a empty 1200 pax route I just had to build a terminal to grab.

O2: picked up about 40 CL44 under 10 years old and reduced the fleet age by replacing 15 year old planes

R2,R4: Underway, with just a little price gouging in R2. New planes of multiple types ordered in each world with bonds to take up the slack. Credit rating CCC is ok or 20 leases; will not take any more bonds unless I absolutely have to.

R5: SEK is selling new brand new planes. This airline has about 1750 planes on order with 1150 in service. I suspect funny business is going on, maybe SEK trying to flood the used market for other airlines?
Dantes valuation is down 4bn with no new planes on order; looks a little bit abandoned
