More luck than judgement. I also neglected to mention that I lost 90 planes on the day (Oscars and Peggies) as he LRCAPed the hex with lots of P-47s and P-38s.

Still, I ain't complaining.

No action today to speak of. The arrow on his stack is still pointing towards Canton.

Shanghai has reached size 9 forts. There is very little base-building going on now anywhere. Supply at Tokyo can perhaps now start to recover from the somewhat depressed level of c.200k. I had to ship a lot out to HK and Formosa to support the recent action.

Just noticed, he has arrived in Changsha. Not directly over the river obviously.

Wow!

Didn´t expect that result. Wonder whats up with his troops? Adjusted AV from 5k to 1,5k in a clear hex and 560 destroyed squads... Not seen that before!

Congrats on the victory!

I suspect some of his KMT units must still have a lot of disabled squads. I would say it was low supply, DIS and FAT, but the combat report didn't show any such minuses. Very surprising, in a good way.

I would like to think that it might be something to do with the Oscar Swarm.

Look at the bombing accuracy of this unit, which is typical. In comparison my best level bomber has an accuracy of 46%. Add in the effect of strafing and it may be that the disruption and fatigue inflicted is material.

There is still quite a lot of movement going on in China. It would be marvellous if I could somehow rescue my stranded army next to Kweilin.

Wow, thats another good result! Your are doing real well in China right now. I bet your opponent will be a lot more cautious after these turns. That alone can buy you a lot of time. Its interesting to see how poorly the Chinese are doing on the offensive even in late 44. All those destroyed squads will be a nice source of LCU VPs for you!

Could we get a screen of the Changsha area please?

Although I am not tracking it properly I do believe that the points difference has stabilised recently i.e. he is not pulling away from me any more. Certainly the Army Points is an important factor in this.

Why on earth did he shock attack into Changsha instead of just taking a 1 hex detour and don´t have to do the river crossing?

Yep, the Chinese don't do well with fortifications, do they?

Still, it's mostly disablements, and with supply generously added, they should be ready in a few weeks to try again. If he's not using the air force to soften you up though, it simply will not work well.

He hasn't done a serious air attack for ages now. Not since I trounced him over Kiungshan.

The reduction of Luzon has to start soon though. I have about 500 fighters there across 4 bases.

Was he sacrificing a corps to open another hex side? Alternatively, he may have given the move order from several hexes away and not noticed until too late that the unit was crossing the river.

The Grace! My favorite strike plane in the game!

Nice work.

You would have to say that today hurt.

He finally moved his air forward to Canton last turn, about 250 fighters. So this turn I tried to take the base out, and failed dismally.

The paras at Wuchow were also attacked by a Chinese Corps, and although they survived they probably won't last much longer.

The only compensation was another successful shipping attack by the Graces at Manila.
