Hurricane Sandy warning - - - I'm in Southern NJ on the Delaware River side... The weather people are going nuts about the sky is falling, and for once they may be right. The flooding is the most likely threat because of the onshore winds will not only affect the Atlantic Ocean, the Delaware Bay and River will get the same surge. So the peninsula that is NJ probably will get flooded from three sides.

My concern is the electricity, continuous 50-70mph winds with gusts up to 120mph for approx 18 hrs starting Monday, will knock out large areas due to trees down, underground flooding, etc. Early estimates are one week loss of electricity, localized flooding... yada yada yada.

Food stores are already packed - yes we bought more bottled water than we could drink in a month, stocked up on canned food, etc

That means no turns, psychiatric level withdrawl symptoms, and forced close contact with family members for multiple days... This could be dangerous!

For LarryF and TommyG - I'll be back on when I can, and our turns will just have to wait.

Anyone else in this storm - be safe and stay away from downed wires, check on your loved ones and don't go anywhere unless you absolutely have to...

Trying a different method of reporting Combat Reports, let me know if you like it.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Feb 16, 42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the screening force for my CV's, I'm rushing Lex and Sara back with 2CA's to Pearl Harbor, Enterprise is limping back also and these ships will rejoin to protect her
I consider this a win, even though its light damage, Larry still has to repair his CV's, just like me...

Night Time Surface Combat, near Midway Island at 156,95, Range 9,000 Yards
Japanese Ships
CV Akagi, CV Kaga, Shell hits 1
CVL Ryujo, CVL Shoho, CVL Zuiho, Shell hits 1, CVL Nisshin, Shell hits 2

TB Tomozuru

Allied Ships
CA Portland, CA Indianapolis, CA Minneapolis, Shell hits 2

I was hoping to force the bombardment TF to pull back from Midway with this show of force... While fighting bravely they get the smackdown instead.

Night Time Surface Combat, near Midway Island at 158,91, Range 8,000 Yards

DD Crosby, Shell hits 15, and is sunk, DD King, Shell hits 1, DD Lawrence, Shell hits 1

Then the bombardment TF goes about its regular business putting the hurt on Midway...
The spotters are definitely improving thier aim, Will night CAP shoot down spotters?

West Coast: SF is at 3.3M in supply because of my not convoying effectively into Ports. I will get an abundance of AK’s over the next year and will escort them throughout. This means I will be switching the Clemson DD’s to DE since they become 6 ASW weapons.

Hawaii: I sent out the BB Pennsylvania and BB Oklahoma to the West Coast along with 2DD escorts that are Due for 4/1 refits, CV Enterprise took 3 torpedoes last time she ventured out, Big E has 9 months of shipyard time too. Sara and Lady Lex have a little less than a month to fix their wounds Pearl has 225K of Supply and just over 200K of fuel so no worries there.

Java: No real hopes of saving any of the bases, I just want to make it as expensive as possible for Larry, he has shown a trait of spreading himself a little too thin in places. Batavia got a couple of the AA LCU’s from other bases to make the airraids deadlier

Burma/India: The Australian I Corps has been shipped to Bombay. I intend to send them and the remaining Bruma Corps LCU’s to Calcutta or points nearby to start the defense of Burma. I believe Larry is piecemealing his troops up from Bangkok and want to hit him before he has his strength concentrated.

Southern: Pago Pago is getting supply but needs fuel desperately. Lungaville (?) has too many planes (P-39D) and the Troops landed haven’t gotten untracked to start building the airfield. I’m figuring the disruption is the culprit.
Canton Is/Baker Is are both getting visits from Larry with DD’s and E’s which are pretty much destroying my efforts to supply them. I have one bomber sqdrn ferrying supply to Canton Is. without effect so far.

Australia/New Zealand: Sydney has over 300K supply, but as usual fuel is the problem. Larry is repeatedly visiting the East Coast to raise havoc and is pretty successful owing to my lack of experienced fighters

N O T E S:

This just isnt working out... I may just have sacrificed this TF in stupidity and bad intelligence
Night Time Surface Combat, near Namu at 133,116, Range 4,000 Yards

Alaska: A new warfare area but not unexpected... SS 1-16 sends 2 TT's into the AK Steel Exporter causing heavy damage.

Still not finished The Steel Exporters stablemate in the CTF, the AK J.L. Lukenbach gets hit by 2 shells and 3 TT's causing fire and heavy damage.

West Coast: Building up some airfields, waiting for AK's to get to S.F. so I can start TF's of desperately needed supplies. S.F. is up to 3.4M supply...

Hawaii: repairing Enterprise is my #1 priority, Hornet in the pipeline from Balboa - sending her to Pearl to take F4F-4 or at least 3A's off the other carrier groups, Sara and Lady Lex are pierside I could send them out EXCEPT I need more F4F's than I'm getting. I swapped out a VMF group 3A's for Buff's then replacements were delayed for two days...arrgh!

Java: Batavia... I ordered a shock attack and for the life of me I dont know what I was thinking! . 2171 troops killed against 273 Japs... Stupid,Stupid,Stupid!

Burma/India/Malaya: Pulling the Burma units back to Mandalay until reserves get to Calcutta. moving as much fuel and supply as I can get from Abadan. I'm letting the LCU's flesh out at Aden before moving them to Bombay. I have engineers working feverishly at Columbo to build up the port and fortifications.

I sent most of the Aussie LCU's at Singers north into Jahore Baru to see if there is any supply to be captured. I regret not building up Singers LI at the beginning - it was not wanting to hand it to him when he took Singers. Now I see how much the resources could have been converted by the LI with Palembang's fuel, and I'm grinding my teeth over it. There's around 150K of resources for him and NOW I see how thin he spread himself here. I actually outnumber him but cannot take advantage because of NO Supply!

Southern: 3 DD's (Craven,Case,Shaw) have a daytime encounter CL Nachi,DD Kagero & DD Ushio near Rongelap(135,110). No surprise on either side but its not pretty, DD Craven sinks with 8 shell hits, DD Shaw takes 6 shell hits and has heavy fires and heavy damage, DD Case takes 2 hits and is on fire. Only DD Ushio takes 2 shell hits with no damage evident. The followup encounter is fatal as Shaw takes 6 hits and DD Case takes 11 as both ships slip beneath the waves.

DD Fanning is TT'd by a single Kate escorted by 8 M2 Zeroes near Taongi(140,110) Obviously its Larry's CVTF and while I'm disappointed one single plane sinks a destroyer...c'est la vie!

Australia/New Zealand: EDIT: To counter (hopefully) Larry's nighttime attacks at Darwin, I placed the Kingfisher sqdn there on nightfighter duty.

N O T E S: Port Moresby is still a killing field for the IJN forces landing there...

Pre-Invasion action off Port Moresby (98,130)
Defensive Guns engage approaching landing force
120 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.

Japanese Ships
xAP Huzi Maru, Shell hits 8, heavy fires

Squads: 0 destroyed, 4 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 4 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

TF 436 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 98,130

Japanese ground losses:
10 casualties reported
Squads: 1 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Guns lost 1 (1 destroyed, 0 disabled)

Ground combat at Port Moresby (98,130)
Allied Bombardment attack
Attacking force 4354 troops, 42 guns, 2 vehicles, Assault Value = 255
Defending force 20059 troops, 417 guns, 15 vehicles, Assault Value = 659

Japanese ground losses:
77 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 22 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

Looking for some feedback - I'm trying to make it readable and interesting. It was suggested to limit the Ops reports because it would be easier to just attach it to the site... Is this style better or what suggestions do you have?
