I would like to see HBO do a mini-series on James Clavell's Shogun. I have the 70's version on DVD, but I think HBO could spread it out over 3-4 seasons and it would be awesome!

The Dresden Files is begging for the Hollywood treatment, full stop. I'll be honest, I just wanna see the end of Dead Beat on the big screen. Once that happens, I can die happy.

Just finished watching the original with the family. I'd gladly watch one that was modernized too.

Still a good series.

Eternal Zero and Isokuro have some nice Midway scenes. Both films are from the Japanese perspective.

Eternal Zero

Isokuru Hiryus counterattack

I am not sure on how realistic those maneuvers of the Zeros against the US bombers are. If true that plane must been really spectacular in that regard.

Also that AA fire from the Yorktown is just frightening.

Hehe, even Japanese films continue to promulgate the myth that their carriers were hit with A/C on the flight deck. And yes, I doubt those types of maneuvers were possible. CGI.

In know next to nnothing about avitation but it looked suspicious to me. On the other side the Zero and Oscar been praised for the stuning maneuvers they could pull up so.....

Ive watched "Eternal Zero" once, and I liked it, although I feel some of the thoughts/emotions were lost in the Japanese to English translation.

Which maneuvers are y'all referring to? In "Eternal Zero" when he barrel rolls and ends up on the tail of his own wingman, that is a legit maneuver. And did anyone notice his technique for flying through the American flak?

This has actual Hayabusa flying footage. Like WW1 planes they could turn on a dime.
Like at scene 9:00

"Kato Hayabusa Sento-tai" (1944) w/ English Subtitles

A propaganda film that appeals to the honorable spirit within, instead of demonizing the enemy.

Would love to see Shogun revisited. Hard to see anyone other than Toshiro Mifune as Toronaga tho.

Maybe if you appealed to Kim Jong-Un's ego he would take the part ...
