Hi all,
I just fired up a game with JuanG' UltimateBB scenario- and in Pearl Harbor the Japanese empire scored no less then 100 fricking torpedos hits Since in this scenario there are more targets in PH, only five battleships and five destroyers went under. Of course, having this many floating ships means that the two carriers in PH took a heavy beating.

So this got me wondering-has anyone had any other horrendous experiences at PH?

Eh, you got off easy...

Not familiar with that scenario, though.

It's basicly just a mod that adds in a crap-load of battleships(or at least that's why I play it) Here's a linky-http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2179124

But yes, I did get off lightly. That's why I took over Japan for the next turn and made them launch a day two strike.

I have been the lucky recipient of a PH strike that sunk all but 1 of my BB's, plus most of the cruisers, several DD's, and a lot of Cat's left in peices.  This was an RA game.  However, we can't get the map to load properly, so we are gonna have to do a re-do once we figger out wth we are doing

Well, I was on the recieving end of this one in my current game. Normal scenario 1.

Ow, just restarted a new AE GC with my old time AE opponent. Haven't played the game in 1,5 years.

He got the (from my perspective) harshest PH raid I've ever seen.

Not one Kate dropped bombs ... and he got 70 torpedo hits ...

On the sunk list appears ...;
ALL BB's
CA San Fransisco
CL Detroit
5 DD's
1 AVD
2 DM's
1 SS

... oh the horror ... but at least I don't have to worry about the BB's locking up the yard facilities or sending them to WC

Note: POW & Repulse each took three torp hits and are at 87 & 90 FLt damage. We'll see if I can save either of those. Doesn't look too promising, but I'll make a try.

It must be because I play as the IJN on the hardest difficulty, but I have never managed to sink more than 1 of the BBs in a single strike. And I usually don't even sink the 1 unless I get a really lucky crit.

Nevada suffered a magazine explosion with the 2nd torpedo hit in the replay. It went downhill from there.

The fun part is that you can't predict the result.. That makes the strike worthwhile to execute..

The most devestating PH result I ever saw was one of the few times I ever tried to play as the Japanese. Weather came up "Thunderstorms" and no missions flew. Pretty much convinced me to stick with the "good guys".

In the historical attack on PH the IJN used 36 shallow running torpedoes. The remainder of the Kates used bombs of various types. I haven't added up how many actual torpedo hits occurred but a very high percentage of those 36 actually hit something.

I suppose simulating this would require special one time code that was not included...or this issue wasn't even considered.
