I use 2 hours normally - gives me enough time to regroup and move on to another objective if forces permit. Downside is when the AI decides not to ceasefire and has beau-coup tanks over running my infantry :)

1 hour. 2 hours you can end up with to much fight to the death, one hour keeps it tense and also both sides can end up with troops left.

30 mins is too short, sometimes the AI need 30 mins to organise it's attack esp on large maps.

I've had times when first contact can be at around 15 to 20 mins, esp if waiting in an ambush situation.

Also sometimes it takes me 20 odd mins to get all my forces organised and in the position for an assault, especially if coming in from different directions.

2 hour battles mean you could be struggling for ammo very quickly into the campaign.

So 1 hour is best for me.

Maybe its this cheapo laptop I'm renting while mine is in the shop.
I have time advance all the way up and 1 sec on game clock take about
5 second real life time. 30 minutes I am in front of computer 2 hours?
Watched a chek movie on battle of sokolovo on my kindle while playing
thats how slow the units move. You know I was thinking tracers should
move across battlefield a lot faster...LOL

My game runs fastest on the 3.0x setting. If I go above that, it actually slows down.
