Oooo,

Just reviewing M60 and Fulkerson versus Farfarer's game, (see war room thread), see p 7:

'Meanwhile, a new formation is being added to Malinovsky's Southwestern Front' - First Artillery Army - It is scheduled to receive another artillery division and two guards rocket launcher divisions. (< Message edited by M60A3TTS -- 7/1/2012 12:08:07 AM >)

When did these get added - as reinforcements or can they be purchased?

Don

They didn't.

That's a little artwork courtesy of Microsoft Paint. It's a regular empty army I had lying around.

Aaaargh ,

Good idea though - I will adopt that quick smart in my games - better C&C, leadership, admin and supply etc, one for each front I say ! Hmm, with arty Support Units attached too :)

FYI, did the Sov's actually have artillery armies ??

No they didn't. You can also use those airborne corps. as artillery HQs.

Hmmm, I have a few empty armies too...........

Artllery Armies - OMG that explains the punch to Vitebsk I didn't see coming :)

However, I have done more hasty attacks or weaker deliberate attacks than my norm as I consistently notice whole regions of your units controlled by STAVKA. Whatever Zhukov's attributes, there is a 20% penalty in nearly all the battles this winter in the north at least. When playing Red, I will overload hugely rather than risk having any unit fight a battle under "STAVKA". However, I admit with a 7 million strong Red Army, you need to make choices - with my Ostheer under 4 million and declining, every gefreiter has a general whispering in his ear :)

The Russians did employ several Artillery Corps HQs in WW2. These HQs should've been included in the game, more so than the Airborne Corps HQs I'd say.
