no idea this should be in here,im playing a game for like alast 4 to 6 months against Bigbaba :),i have to say hes an excellent opponent he did his attacks the first year very good (didnt reach moscou and didnt get past rostov)and after that he stopped TOTALLY with attacking for the rest of the game(still busy)after the first year and went all out defensive,a viable tactic and totally ok so i kept grinding on ,he builded tons of forts so i tried everything ,spearpoint attacks with Corpses backed up with arty ,Bombing runs on it ,i tried attacks All over the front, with the amount of losses even Stalin would prob shoot his whole generalkorps all over.he has 6000 panzerpool!!!! in 1943 and his manpower pool i have no idea but his defensive line is just not breaking ,actually it seems hes becoming russia :),i keep playing through because i want to see how ridiculous the game can become a bit further anyway some SS ,i dont know if the mechanics should work like this but if so just ignore this post :p

i have over 11 million casualties in 1943 :p,partly because i was looking for weakpoints but there wasnt any or i didnt find them ,i looked reaaally hard though(hence the casualties ):)
Now the battle numbers are like really weird
i once made an planned attack against 1 division with almost close 400000 man 1000 AFV and 5000 arty.....he maybe lost 1000 man i lost 10000 and he didnt even budged and i have made 100dreds of attacks like this and rarely he retreats and if he does its not without 50000 casualties on my side first :(
i put tons of divisions and tankcorps in Reserve ,rarely one actually jumps in(yes i made sure the generals have good ratings)
the Airforce battles :( by all means the german airforce should be non existent anymore with... some battles i have like 200 FB against 24 Germans ,no losses on his side i lost like 40 easy
No idea what to think of it all ,IS it because people can fiddle with the TOE that easy ,if they do, the germans should be weaker on the front no?

1. I am facing an opponent who is using the same general approach but his lines are bendable and crack here and there; he is putting a heroic and very viable defense; he has started to use defense activation to great effect.

2. I think you have a typo: "planned attack against 1 division with almost close 400000 man 1000 AFV and 5000 arty" - you meant 40,000 not 400,000? My last turn I lost 11,000 men in a stupid attack that was 2:1 before adustment of the CV; the defense CV was 24 and I attacked with 48; mine were three mech corps and three inf corps backed my artillery and he was three mech divisions in a level 2 fort behind a river and in a forest - I got greedy and paid a huge price. The point is that the more men/AFV which are committed the higher the losses; the smaller the unit the smaller the absolute losses and the larger the unit the larger the losses no matter the odds. 100,000 men attacking 50,000 at 2:1 can cause 5,000 losses; 100,000 men attacking 1,000 at 100:1 will only cause maybe 400 losses.

3. You need artillery and lots of it; use 6 - 9 divisions; and you need AT units and lots of them set in reserve to support the attack ===> this will crack his line. Also, you need engineers; stuff your coprs with three each where you want to attack and his line will give.

Your not going to beable to mount a good offensive until rivers freeze in late 1943.

Sure you can "crack" a line before that, but if he has stuff set up right he will have 3 to 4 layers deep in forts. Plus 1 infantry and 1 panzer army in reserve, which can be sent to the "crack".

If the front has a small bubble his huge tank researves can cut it off and hold it vs about anything until 1944.

If as SHC your not across the rivers before the summer of 1944 your probably not going to win. Your looking at a slim chance at a win(25%) a more then likely chance at a draw(50%) and a slim chance at a lose(25%).

Which is just what 2by3 wants and what I beleive is probably most of the player base.

All things being equal the game should be a draw.

The real wild card is 95% of the poeple playing have not ever gotten a single game into 43. So its a part of the game as Flaviusx has stated that most peeps have never experianced.
