Hi everyone- Im a new player and this is my first post in the forums. Im not sure if this is the right place to post and apologize in advance for that. Here's my problem:

I've got a TF docked at Melbourne and I'm trying to load some troops there. I think it's 2 INF, 1 ARM, and 1 ENG. My TF (transport) has 4 AP and 5 AK. I click 'load troops' and only 2 of the Land Units appear on the next screen. They are greyed out and I cannot select them. Under 'Type' it says 'BM'. I tried selecting 'load troops only' it makes no difference. I have this problem a lot. I have read the manual fully though tonight I will re-read the section on troop loading. Can anyone enlighten me or send a link to a guide on troop loading? Thank you VERY much in advance. Also, I am willing to play PBEM if anyone is interested though I dont have a clue how to do that yet either...

Loading troops has a few caveats. First you can only load troops that are not assigned to a restricted HQ. Units with a restricted HQ have an (R) next to it's HQ name. If the HQ name is yellow, you can change the HQ for the cost of PP, if it is gray, you can't change the HQ. Some units are locked down to where they start.

Secondly, there are two types of TFs that can carry troops, Transport and Amphibious. The mode the troops need to be in is different for the type. Transport TFs need the troops to be in Strategic move mode to load. Amphibious TFs require troops to be in Combat mode. For long trips from friendly port to friendly port, you want to use Transport TFs with troops in Strategic mode. Amphibious should be limited to invasions and putting troops on hexes without a base (like unloading an engineer unit at a dot base hex to build a base there).

OK. Thanks Bill- The TF is Transport and the troops are in Strategic mode so it must be the HQ thing- I will investigate that. Thanks again!

There are a lot of gotchas in this game. War Room or Main forum would be a better place , but here is not a problem as far as I know. Keep asking questions, someone will answer.

The problems with making this post here rather than to the main or war room is that the readership is less and more importantly it makes "searching" in the future harder.
