Hurricanes are one of the reasons I'm glad I live 300 miles inland. For you guys on the coast a hurricane is a horrible thing, for me it just means we'll get some very welcomed rain.

Sorry everyone, I meant to post yesterday but things have been very busy. There will be news in October, but we are a bit behind the schedule I originally planned on, so the announcement is not yet ready. Some of the new features have taken quite a bit of work and I think you will be happy with the release, but we will only announce more information when we're ready to share something that is close enough to complete to be more meaningful. That means sometime in October, but unfortunately not yet.
Regards,
- Erik

Just stay safe up there; I suspect you are in the snow belt for this goofball if dangerous storm we are getting!

Let us all join into a minute of silence for the first prominent victim of the storm: The ship "Bounty" sank today, some might have seen the copy of the original in a film.

Take care everyone in the storm's path. Hope you and your families all ride it out safely.

Nedrear, that's terrible news, however it seems the Captain and 1 of the crew is still missing.

Bounty? As in, a copy of the original bounty was lying somewhere in NY and now it sank? That is very sad (although it'll make an awesome diving spot eventually, at least, if the captain and crew survive). Spectacular pictures on the BBC. I hope everyone gets back on their feet quickly.

Pretty crazy. Lower Manhattan was inundated, and keep in mind this is a city where basement apartments are common. My neighbourhood was unaffected, but it's spooky to find out what was going on just 30 blocks south of here. This is apparently East Village:

Hi everyone,

The Matrix Games office survived well. My house is without power and phone, but all things considered we did better than expected. From the news I've seen, this storm was as record-breakingly bad as expected in the coastal areas and closer to its path. I hope for the best for those folks and that there are as few lives lost as possible.

Regards,

- Erik

It is not over. First he crushed the southern energy and phone lines and now he starts to freeze the water pipes in the north. Now that storm has a nice career. He was promoted to blizzard in the north.

Glad to hear the Matrix crew is all safe and sound.

For the rest of us that weren't affected by this, I want to add this. Keep all the victims in your prayers, but also pray for the safety of the rescue workers: the police, firemen, city workers, EMTs and Paramedics. I've personally been on the medic side of a flood related rescue operation...it is one of the hardest things you can imagine, as it drains you physically and emotionally. And while most people are now just left with cleanup, the emergency workers are still hard at work rescuing the stranded and having to start the municipality clean up. They've been at it all night, and they are no doubt very tired. So please keep all those affected in your prayers...victims and rescuers alike.

As much as I would like to see feature list or something colse to it even today, I think that we all should agree that Erick may have right now FAR more important matters to attend to. In my opinion hurricane is more than reason to have change in plans even without saying us about it. So I would not count on any cookies in following days ;)

Seen the pics on the news, it looks very bad out there

Good to hear Erik and Matrix made it through unharmed though. Best of luck to anyone affected, hope things get back to normal for you soon!

You know writing a few lines is not a big thing or hard.Paradox manage weekly dev diaries about upcoming games 6 months in advance be we seem to have to wait untill the game is more or less finished killing any debate about possible features and flawed design untill we get any news.It is not good community building.

I can very well understand not wanting to reveal non-finalized features. You hint on what you want to achieve, and all hell breaks loose if you scrap it due to it not working well in the game.

To be fair, it seems a little silly to compare two companies unless you know their staffing levels and project loads to be similar. I don't know the size of a typical project team for Paradox, but if their teams are larger it makes sense that any or all of their developers might have more time to manage a developer blog and engage in design debates/critiques.

Point taken ASHBERY76. Features list (or predicted features list) could be given to community much, much earlier. Also I agree that something like weekly diary would be great (generally some regullar communication devs-community would be great) Howewer personally I still understand (not perfect word, but I lack any better - I may not understand their situation really because I never lived through any kind of natural dissaster, and I would like to keep it that way) their situation, and I am more than willing to wait far longer.

Yep, better off to say nothing until you are sure its going to work.

Too many times I've seen fans go completely rabid because something that was mentioned as a possibility had to be cut in the end.

They release a preliminary feature list to this little community, and a couple hours later it's plastered on the front page of Blue's News and everywhere else as promised features. Unless you're sure you can pull them all off and that they'll be fun additions to the game, that's a bad idea.
