I wouldn't be putting those tank corps right up front as Morvael is doing...well that's just me.
They need a quite a bit of time away from bad combat ( losing battles ) to train up to their morale, and facing superior enemy formations ( Germans ) is not a good setup.

I see this in other way. I need to keep my front strong. Tank Corps go to worst gaps (no fort or level 1) since they have highest CV of units available to me (5-7 versus 4-5 of Cav Corps and 2-3 of Rifle Divs). In this AP constrained world, I have not spent 400 APs to build units that will spend their time in the rear (and since I have total lack of AP I don't build Rifle Corps for now, since in the future they might be cheaper, unless an emergency happens - as did a turn ago). And the tank casualties are a joke, I have 7000 tanks in the pool and 9500 in the line. This just helps me to burn through all those old KV and T-34 models that have been already paid for. And their experience is not that bad, by combat they see an increase of exp. Sure, worst battered ones are taken to the rear and replaced by those from the quiet sectors (now I'm organizing 2nd and 3rd Tank Army). Currently 6 Tank Corps are under 50 morale, 14 have 50+ (50 is now their base morale since Sept. 42).

If you ( Morvael ) keep putting up those 3 unit stacks you may be facing a bunch of routs when the stacks do not hold.

I like my routs better than Germans driving deep into my lines :) What you see is more dramatic version of what I see, because at the start of my turn most of those units rally.

Was his stats good ones? I have not lost a commander for a long time (15 turns maybe) - but because I had to close in my HQs (due to mud), I expect new casualties to appear soon.

My supply situation worsens, as first mud and now winter causes a lot of damage to the trucks. I'm now just holding and waiting for the 1943 lend lease for salvation :)

What's the situation in the North?
The Axis have so much in the South that they must be weak in the North. If I was playing the SU I'd be thinking about making trouble up there.

I guess they are weaker but without a single corps to spare I can't break through level 3 forts for now, so I'm happy with a stalemate there. Also, some creative accounting by Leningrad and Northwest Front commanders allowed me to send more forces to the south without really weakening those fronts. Actually, I'm a very defensive player, so I attack only where I see 90%+ chances of success and take no risks as to counterattacks and encirclements. That makes for a boring game, I know. At least I have not lost a single unit in '42.

It is true that you don't need to take any chances to win when playing the SU, but I think you've reached the kind of force advantage here where you can start to think offensively.I would maybe take a third of the units in the South and attack in the North.
The Axis are only really dangerous at this stage if you allow them to concentrate locally.I would prevent them from doing this by applying pressure across the whole front and so forcing them to disperse their strength.
