The only airworthy de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito in the world is back in the air. It was restored in New Zealand and it made its first flight for the public today.

The restoration

Test flight and landing

First official flight

Great Stuff..

I ordered a 1/24th scale Mossie from local model shop..... just waiting on it to comne into the shop... My wife threatened to leave me

Wow! That is some frigging Plane!

I had a chance about 15 years ago to accompany my Uncle at a WW2 Air Exhibition who served in the Canadian Air Force during WW2 as a gunner in one of these planes but the time and date fell through. He is now deceased but will always regret not having had the chance to fly in one especially with him.

Watched this on local TV news last night. Awesome to see. Shortly after the item a report came in that a Spitfire (or replica) was in trouble elsewhere here in NZ, coming in to land at a provincial airport and one of the wheels failed to lower. Heard later that it had alanded safely. Phew, too few of these old classics left to lose any.

I can't even draw a square with a ruler, nonetheless make anything that nice.

One of my uncles served with Canadian airmen during WW2. When I was a kid he told me that he used to fly out of a base in Nova Scotia to attack U-boats. I can�t remember which aircraft he flew � and I don�t know whether he was with the RCN or RCAF. He originally served with Coastal Command in Britain. When the Canadians expanded their armed forces they asked the British to send over some experienced people to work with their new recruits. My uncle had had some experience and so he was sent over. He really liked Canada, although he thought it was rather cold at times � especially as he was from Devon which is warmer than most of the UK.

Nothing that big Jevhaddah...I'm not that rich and my wife isn't that understanding. It's 1/48 scale.

Impressive, it's actually a bit bigger than I thought it was. One of my favorite planes, glad to see it flying once more. That plane must be priceless...
