This one attack signals Jim's intent to go down hard. He's attacking me, me, for crying out loud. I guess he can do that from time to
time. Not much damage was done, this time, so I'm thinking I ought to move some ground troops down there, some engineers, and
some supplies and maybe some air cover from a carrier or something. Maybe some LRCAP from some of those long-range Zero's.

And then some of my carriers got in an air strike on some ships and almost sank all of them. Almost.

And then there was a Jap ground bombardment not involving any of the troops just arty tubes. Tomorrow I've ordered the bombardment
with the men included. It should be a little bit different in the losses category.

If I can manage to overrun the city while he has planes parked there I can destroy some planes. That might explain the urgency in my
ordering another attack like this one tomorrow. Forts are down to 1 and I've got people willing to do the job as long as I give them the
supply they need. I'll look into the supply situation.

This attack tells me that I'm up against the engineers and people who work in the rear and that a deliberate attack might just be what's
in order here. So I schedule one for tomorrow. We'll see how the engineers stand up to real experienced combat troops.

Here's the Manila situation: Jim is beating me at my own game and he's got the preponderance of guns and can do that. I need to find
a bunch of guns really quick and move them to Manila. Plus there's some people from Clark Field that will arrive in a day or two and I
can always just cordon off the guys at Bataan and concentrate on Manila.

I expect Jim to do a DA at Gasmata any day now. Then I'd have to take it back, etc.

I'm going to put together a TF specific to repairing / tending subs and move them down to Shortlands so as to be in a better position to
service those subs I'm going to send to the east coast of OZ.

I'm currently putting together a TF of 13 ships whose combined tonage is about 40% of all the supplies in Tokyo. That's how close to the
wire it's getting. Everything I have will have to make do with less because pretty soon there won't be any to ship somewhere.

Task Force 202 here was originally slated to go to Cam Ranh Bay but I've got to looking at the ships that are inbound to Pescadores to
pick up supplies and the supply level at P. is so low that I thought maybe it might be prudent to send this 42K+ slug of supplies to P.

Oh.....well, thank you very much. I think maybe I'm doing pretty well in the game too. Which makes me think I'm missing something....
something important and almost obvious. None of the industries are failing, fuel is the largest decrease in the resource history which
implies that all is going according to plan. I don't remember missing anything.

Here's where the task forces are right now:

This Hong Kong Det LCU is due to be withdrawn in 6 days and yet when I go to disband it the button is greyed-out. Is it supposed to be
enabled on the day it is to be withdrawn or am I missing something again?

Don't worry about it.
You do not have to do anything.
Unlike Air and Sea assets which can be withdrawn early earning extra PP's, the game deals with LCU withdrawals on its own.
They will disappear without you having to do anything or incur any penalty.

Thank you for that. I was wondering. There's a lot to be learned about this game. I learn something every day from experts like you.

I'm no expert Larry, there are people far more knowledgeable than me on the Forum.

Glad the info was some help though!!

Anyway, back to this exciting AAR....

So um........I have this CS stationed west of Tulagi who has a LOT of float planes, Jakes as I recall........and I've spread them out
searching the waters off the east coast of OZ. Have I mentioned this before? Not sure. Anyway, this is their search pattern:

Oh no........one of my carriers has developed a major problem. I've got to escort her to the nearest repair shipyard to get her fixed. So
maybe I should put in to port and rearrange the TF here.

Its really out on a limb there Larry.
I'd station it at Lunga or Shortlands where it will at least get some decent fighter cover.

Why not drop a couple of Engineer units onto either Tagula, Rossel or Woodlark and construct some sort of airfield if you want a forward observation post?

Are you not flying any Mavis's out of Rabaul, Tulagi or Lunga?
Their Search range is huge.

I've stationed it there so as to provide some visibility without exposing it to Allied air power but I see your point and yes, Jim can probably reach it with a B-17 or something but so far it's been surviving. I've got some fighters I can send down there to provide some
LRCAP but it's probably too far forward to be CAP'd where it is. I'll have to get busy and build some more airfields.

Are you not developing Lunga?

This is a vital airbase for further operations south, and helps keep the threat from Espiritu Santo a little more honest in my opinion.

I want to develop Lunga if only because of history but right now all the engineers are busy elsewhere. I'm planning on getting better
organized once the invasions are largely done, say in a month or so, but I'm needing the engineers to repair stuff I capture in Java
and Davao is still semi-damaged for instance. I'm finding that I need a balance of compeating priorities: feeding resources and oil to
the home islands, moving people around, getting fuel and supplies to the places that need it, etc. and so far it's hit or miss, trial and
error, and somehow I'm getting most of it done.

In a move that must be the surprise move of the game so far Jim does a bombardment of Port Moresby. He must know that doing that
means that I'm going to have to move in some capital ships to protect Port Moresby.
