Hi CaptainPost,

We added scaling to the bottom left selection screen, if you click the double red arrow in the top right it should make that and the text included there larger.

So congratulation to the release and I have just bought it !

BEST LUCK AND SUCCESS TO THE TEAM !

PS: That Matrix shop is terribel, because they still hate us European costumers ...
as useual I had to pay more as all others ...

Product Qty Unit Price Ext. Price
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Distant Worlds - Shadows Download 1 $ 20.57 $ 20.57
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
VAT (20.0%): $ 4.11
Total: $ 24.68

apart from that damn steam it is one of the last online Shops, where we Europeans get
f u c k e d ... but at Steam I am able to buy the keys from someone else to get the same or even better Price as all the other costumers ...
Matrix Shop get your facts right and don't feed the Cracker !
Even it is only a minor difference I STILL HATE IT !

okay now playing the game ...

You can click on the Facility and select Attack, but be forewarned, they can be tough.

Yeah, performance seems great (although it's just from early in my game).

so far so awesome playing as an empire in age of shadows 4 races and pirates (i made it quiet awkward for myself thinking i'd get annihilated fast, first play through. 10 hours later im hanging in there. Was scared of the brutal gravity weapons, but then the pirates got a high tech cruiser and they didnt seem to bother me again. Im starting to pick off there stuff.. wierd.

cant wait till next play through.

p.s. how do you deal with gravity weapons, just tech them up your self? gravity vs gravity or something, ive built mostly tractor beams thus far.
pps why do tracktor beams keep bring in ships, i thought they repelled too?

i have a hidden pirate base on my planet its 100% constructed but i cant attack it, and my planet is 0% curruption?

I don't think there is a counter/defense to gravity weapons, that's why they're so dangerous.

The Hidden Pirate Base you have to manually attack it with Troops.
I don't remember if you do Right Click on the icon when the Planet is selected or if you do it in the Colony screen under the Facilities tab.

Oh, Pirate Bases have nothing to do with Corruption (oddly).

Yeah!

My fledgeling space empire had built a small interplanetary fleet, and when the space monsters attacked and destroyed my mining base I sent them to attack. Only to get several of my ships destroyed, and I had to run. Those space bugs are nasty!

Awesome to start as an empire in the age of shadows without interstellar travel.

As a general rule, I wait for my advisors to tell me to attack it. The AI will wait till they have a clear advantage and you will win in the majority of the time.

Just FYI, the best defense against Gravity weapons and tractor beams is longer range weapons, speed, stand-off posture and countermeasures.

Shield and armor will not help.

The pirate assault early on is great. There is a feeling of achievement when you manage to stabilize a new colony so it is not raided ever 3 days anymore.

When you park a fleet at a colony it may manage to turn them away for a while, but small damage from gravitic weapons and railguns add up, and it has to repair. Who will protect the colony while they repair? Keeping 8-10 ships at a colony is no great achievement, but you want to expand. Can you do that at 10 colonies before your colonies start to fill up? How will they fill up if raids keep the population down?

Throw having a disaster at your home colony into the mix as well...things get very...interesting. Having a -220k income has led to coming up with some creative ways to make money. I'm not restarting the game, gonna step up to the challenge and see if I can turn things around.

Not at home at moment so can't check but doesn't the description of Grav weapons say something about them being more effective against smaller ships? Does the Grav weapon attack value decrease against bigger ships or something?

That's true, gravitic weapons are more effective against smaller ships.

Part of it is smaller ships having fewer components to damage. I've also found gravitic weapons to be very effective at damaging the hyperdrive.

i got a question. what does one do with abandoned ships found during exploring? i found a destroyer in my system and was hoping for some sort of event that will allow me to use it (i saw that happening on a youtube dw legends gameplay) but despite parking my ship on top of that abandoned one, nothing happened. As i am playing in the age of shadows, is there a certain tech i should get before i am able to get this ship? like that one with boarding parties?

If the found ship is damaged, you need to repair it before you get the popup that you've acquired it.

It's a bit of an investment if you really want it. If it's close by, go for it.

Some of the ships you find will have to be repaired before they can be enlisted and used. Those ships will require sending a construction ship to repair and get them back in operation. This is working as intended.

There are two types of ships you can find in DW. Ships that were abandoned but are in perfect working order, and derelicts that are badly damaged from battle, but still reasonably intact. Abandoned ships are the only ones that can be immediately crewed and join a fleet. And sometimes you will find groups of ships that have both types together. Also, your big world destroyers will almost always have at least 1 ship in the group that can be crewed immediately, with all others needing repair....but the key is you have to find them before another empire does.

Do keep in mind that the AI eventually will repair those damaged ships you find, but it is very low priority (getting mines built and resources is top priority for the AI). The one exception to that rule are the world destroyers, the AI prioritizes repairing those above everything else. The nice thing is that you can manually select a construction ship and give it a command to repair a ship, and it will over-ride the AI priorities...at least for the one ship you select for repair. The manually way is even better done by selecting the constructor, targeting the ship and using ctrl+right click to queue next mission...that way it finishes what it is currently working on before moving to repair the ship you want repaired.
