Status: offline 		These were the troops forced east from Indochina and west from the Allied lodgement near Foochow. Casualties were 4,907, 350 Guns, and 229 Vehicles for 10,442 Allied Cas, 95 Guns, and 39 Vehicles.

He attacked again on the 19th scored a 1-7 result.

Well..if those results from a few days ago over Chinhae were not good enough for you take a look at this day.

Fusan is a BUSY port. Numerous TFs load resources, drop supply, and drop off troops. There is some of all of that going on this day. As always there is a frightfully strong CAP overhead. A total of 188 Fighters are covering this vital base when the air raid sirens go off. INCOMING RAID! Spotters pick-up 89 American Fighters escorting 32 Avengers. They are launch from the hovering American Carriers.

The scramble is on as a massive furball erupts over the base and port. Amazingly not a single bomb or torpedo is dropped. ALL the Avengers are shot down as well as dozens of American Fighters.

BANZAI!

A STF of 3 CA and 5 DD meet up with the TF of 6 American DDs. Despite having an excellent Japanese Admiral, the Americans gain surprise where--thankfully--they miss with their TTs but plaster five ships with 1-2 hits each before the fighting really starts. A very long (13 Round) fight then ensues with the Japanese losing one DD in exchange for DD McCord and, perhaps, 1-2 others. In an example of things work in 1945, DD McCord was hit with 3 8" shells and a Long Lance in the same round and did not sink. It took another 8-10 hits to send her to Davy Jones.

That is a tough ship...

The TF gets away without any further action or damage sustained.

Status: offline 		Haven't done a ground picture in quite a while. Here are the Korea and China Theatres with IDs and AVs shown on the map.

Dan has pulled all but one unit from the base north of Chinhae. I am sure that he wants me to move into the so he can bring in the ALMIGHTY $EB to bomb my troops into the stone age. Imperial High Command has decided to meet this challenge. A total of 2,400 AV and 8 AA units are going to enter the hex. ALL 750 SAMS from the Carriers are going to move into nearby bases and CAP the hex...

This will take about 4-5 days to ready. At any point we can pull the plug but it is worth tripping the trap--possibly...

Ok, this is all what we wanted to hear for months.

Now let's see how does this work out.

P.S:, take in consideration an upgrade / requipment in your mod of Jap AA with the 40 mm? Plausible historically?

I'm wandering why didn't the Japanese develop a 37-40 mm, with all the Bofors and the also the German 37 mm Flak in their hands.

Near Takao, Formosa

Everywhere we go, Japan runs into these TFs of DDs and, occasionally, other warships. Here we have BC Kongo, 3 CA, and 5 DD fight CL Mobile and 7 DD commanded by Raymond Spruance. Two fights ensue during the turn with a Japanese CA taking moderate damage in exchange for the near certainty of Mobile going down and all seven other Americans pretty roughed up.

Grrrr...

I do know my opponent. Three CVs are near Batan Isle and I elect to only place one Daitai as LTCAP over the STF. It sits--ALL DAY--near Takao and is attacked by only some naval B-24s. The STF will join back up with the 3 CVs and we'll continue hunting wabbits...

The Japanese surprise Dan with a bold move of 3 CV into the area between the Philippines and Indochina. Happy hunting is discovered as a strike by 85 Sams, 24 DB, and 27 TB find a TF of LSTs at Quinhon, Indochina. SCRATCH four LST!

I-156 adds LSM-142 to the total by sinking with guns off Gove, Aust.

An aerial ambush over Malaya nets 50+ American Dive Bombers and we have a day with a net GAIN of VP by Japan.

NICE!

The enemy must feel the pick-up of Japanese Operations. For the second straight day the Japanese gain in the VP column without a significant ANYTHING in return.

Going along the lines made in an earlier Post by a reader, there are things that Dan could be doing to stop or plug hemorrhages in the Allied Area. One case is Hollandia, NG. I've been using it as a base to raid his Australian--Boela convoys for weeks. The base has a single Sentai of Fighters protecting it as well as flying escort for Frances and Nells. These bombers have accounted for at least a dozen or more sinkings in the last 4-6 weeks. Has anything been done about it? Has it been bombed back to the Stone Age?? Nope!

This base strikes again today and accounts for two AKs. One is by a pair of TTs and other by a pair of Nells electing to RAM an AK.

As said before the SS are really scoring down here. This day sees I-156 sink AK James Devereux with two TTs near Gove. Another AK would have been hit by I-156 but a DUD occurred...

It is now quite obvious that I have flown in CV-Based Fighters to Malaya. Are Allied Fighters now flying escort to the contested hexes in Northern Malaya? NOPE! We enjoy some nice appetizers for little cost to the Japanese Fighter Corps.

Status: offline 		Chinhae, Korea is teeming with Japanese Troops. Supplies are filling the area and plans are ready for an advance towards Taiyku. Tomorrow the Order will be given to advance.

Throughout Kyushu and SW Honshu AFs fill-up as nearly 800 fresh fighters move into new bases.

In NE China and Manchuria, four full-strength Inf Div and an Armored Division begins an advance upon the Allied troops 100 miles SW of their position. It is known that the Aussie 9th ID and Combat Command-C of the 33rd ID are simply sitting north of Tsinan they recently took while the vast bulk of the Allied army advances SE towards Tsingtao. There may be an opportunity to smash an Aussie ID here. Troops begin to move...

Status: offline 		I don't know if it is the case here, but the symptoms of click fatigue syndrome. Anything outside of the main focus of the Allies gets scant attention because the turns take so darn long to finish.

I always try and to do whatever I can to increase click fatigue, and it seems like Japan is doing the same here.

How long has it been since you have seen a Thunderbolt?

Really, well done Japan! Your play and your attitude is a great testimony to all JFBs, and second guessers.

Status: offline 		Ain't seen very many P-47s at all recently. He has bunches of fighters in Shanghai and the area around that. There are about 400 at Genzan, Korea protecting his Port there.

I've got several TFs in the South China Sea operating and that is drawing attention as well.

Thoroughly understand the whole idea of 'click fatigue.'

Have simply decided that if Dan is playing for the 2-1 in VP then I might as well fight that off as long as possible by GOING AFTER HIM!

The order is given to advance. From Chinhae, Korea, five Inf Div, 9 AA units, and three Engineering Regiments head north for Taiyku.

All Fighters in the area are ordered to rest yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Allies have been SOOOOOOOOOO quiet that the risk is taken that no attacks will be made. We morale amoungst the Fighters units to be HIGH!

Down in the South China Sea, USS Trout plants a single TT into the side of the small Ryuho. Damage is reasonably slight so it splits off and heads back to Singapore.

My Hollandia planes took off to attack a TF just leaving Horn Isle. They found FAR MORE then expected. A CAP of over 200 Fighters shot down the strike and alerts Japanese High Command that--yet another--a large Allied reinforcement fleet is heading for Formosa--China--Korea. Considering that they are several weeks away from the Front Lines, Imperial HQ yawns and will let all current operations continue...

OK. Two good days followed by a semi-bad one. One can always tell when Dan sits and spends about six hours on a turn (he--literally--has told me this). A lot of things change and 'click fatigue' as mentioned earlier gets fixed.

The damaged CA Myoko and a DD get jumped by a squadron of Dauntless at extreme range of Indochina and get sunk. Poor Myoko takes 16 500lb bombs and the DD is smothered by 5 more. Sad. If these had been my DB, they would have elected to commit suicide by attacking the CVs just two hexes away from the damaged ships. My mistake in not placing LRCAP over the two ships. VERY sad...

Singapore is struck by 44 Liberators. Haven't seen 4EB in the DEI in AGES! Lose about 18 planes on the ground and the measly 7 Ki-100 on CAP really put a stick to the bombers. These few fighters shoot down eight of the enemy. That is pretty good and those pilots get two extra rations of Sake!

Resistance at Canton is nearly over. My troops have really damaged the Allied (Brit and Chinese) troops there. Most importantly they have occupied this massive stack FAR TO THE SOUTH of the main lines and done damage.

A little PsyOps this coming turn. I have moved my AOs north of Marcus and now they are moving NE. I want them to be spotted by Midway patrol planes. Want Dan to THINK that the Japanese might be doing something really STUPID (like hitting Pearl Harbor).


Sent turn and plan on doing another. Troops will arrive at Taiyku tomorrow. Fighters will assume LRCAP at that point.

It is a numbers game but I find it is better to leave the larger ships out and just swarm with Allied DDs at this stage. Usually, a surface battle ends with the trading of DDs and most times the capital ships do not fire or do not hit in a night fight vs DDs. My goal from day one of the campaign is to start removing Japanese DDs from the equation. It does not matter if you sink BBs in the early years because if you deplete the DD force then the surface ships are fairly easy to sink later in the war when they do not have enough protection. And there is something to be said about leaving BBs afloat because most Japanese players tend to overuse them and they drink a lot of gas. I would put a lone Detroit class CL with DDs but never a lone modern CL or CA.

It is March 1945 and the Japanese Army is launching a multi-pronged assault upon the Allied Forces. There is no hope for decisive victory but there is real hoping for successful spoiling attacks that might blunt the Allied momentum for a short period of time.

The Fusan Perimeter
On March 1st, 5 full strength Infantry Divisions, 3 Engineering Regiments, and 10 AA units arrive at Taikyu. They are immediately ordered to attack the single Allied unit present in the base.

This troop concentration SHOULD draw the American B-24s. In this campaign, 2EB don't attack troops often. It is left to the trooping killing, all powerful 4EB. GOOD! From five separate AFs 100s of Fighters are dedicated to LRCAP over this base. To be honest I have no idea as to how many are assigned. Best guess is 5-600 minimum. For the record here are the altitude settings--FRANK 30,000Ft, SAM 20,000Ft, and Tony-100 10,000Ft.

To the NE (east of Kiejo) the 32nd Inf Div crushes the Tank Bn protecting that hex. The 32nd, two Inf Brigades, and 3 Artillery units move SW into the Allied Perimeter.

At Keijo, the 1,700 AV there awaken and bombard the weaker Allied units (800 AV).

Imperial Command WANTS the Allies feel some heat! Hopefully we'll take Taikyu AND blast some serious Fighters and Bombers.

Chengchow, China
The Chinese have started to break thru the Japanese lines in Northern China. Two Corps routed a pair of Brigades but have allowed themselves to become separated. Three full strength Japanese ID have arrived at this base with the goal of defeating these two Corps one at a time. If done, it shall secure the NW edge of the Japanese China Perimeter.

Tsinan, China
The Allies took this base with nearly 2,500 AV but have sent over 2,000 SE towards Tsingtao. We are allowing them to draw away from Tsinan as the 3rd Tank Div, 4 Inf Div, and 3 AA units advance towards the city. The goal is not to take the base but to route the 9th Aussie ID located one hex away from the base.


All of these attacks may work. None of these attacks may work. The Imperial Army is on the attack and Gods Blessings VICTORY shall be achieved...

...somewhere!
