Ridiculous CAP over Soerajaba

So i made the silly mistake of Commencing a air raid over Soerajaba without doing proper recon as to the air strength over the city. I was met by some 40 aircraft and well my measley escort of 18 fighters fought off the enemy as best they could but they downed thirteen of my fighters and two bombers. I dont have the combat report D : sorry guys. But how do i get past or destroy such thick CAP zones as i am now trying to get landing forces in the area and i want complete air superiority to make sure my fleets make it in ok. I was thinking of sending in higher altitude sweeps before hand to shoot down or damage as many as i could and then sending in the bombers.. but how can i make sure my pilots make it out on top. I am still a but new to this game.

There no other way other than air superiority missions....so to say: SWEEP, sweep, sweep! Sweep them into oblivion. But you're gonna lose some pilots and some planes. It's normal. It's fair.
But the zeros are so superior in early stages that you're gonna win in the end.

Some will get shot down. Some will get damaged and won't come back. Some pilots will be KIA, some others MIA... even aces die. It hurts, i know. But there's no other way

We all hate it. But that's war and you cannot do scrambled eggs without breaking some eggs ;-)

I like to sweep the base even on turns i send in the bombing raids, with a little luck the sweep will arrive first and soak off some of the cap.

After You loose first 1000 of pilots You will get use to it

If you think 40 planes is ridiculous, wait until you see 400 planes flying CAP.

Or 1400 planes. That's ridiculous!

Great CAP? Go with great sweep! Only after fly with bombers.

You'll get better results if there are enemy fighters

Yeah, 40 is NOT big

Check what exactly those fighters are. If all are Dutch, they have almost no replacements, and NO armor. You can challenge them even with NATEs. Just catch some small base at nearby island.

You can also sweep nearby bases, so only part of CAP will leak to challenge your fighters.
