Hi,
Is there any way of having a transport TF full of troops just waiting in your port (preparing invasion :)) without loading or unloading?
A fuel tanker (ready to replenish)?
Thanks!

As far as I know there is no way to keep troops from automatically unloading in port (very annoying:mad: ). If you want to delay a troop TF you can have it stand off with loaded troops by setting it to (patrol/do not retire) in some safe out of the way deep water hex. Unfortunately this subjects the TF to sub attacks. Also be careful not to do this in a shallow water or beach hex or you will find your troops off loaded and stranded there.

RE:Tankers; Its been my experience that if you set tankers to (patrol/do not retire) in the port it will not off load its fuel unless ordered to.

marcosortega,

Transport TF Yes (sort of), set to Patrol/Do Not Retire and change the homeport to something other than the port were they are loading at. Or you can set a destination with Patrol/Do Not Retire set.

Example 1: Load troops at Brisbane and set the TF (before they finish loading) home port to Rockhampton.

Example 2: Load troops at Brisbane and set the TF (before they finish loading) destination to Townsville with Patrol/Do Not Retire set. Then when you are ready to invade set the new destination and set the TF to Retirement Allowed

Note: This works to keep multiple Transport TF's togther for an invasion.

Replenishment TF Yes, AO's and TK's in a replenishment TF will not unload their fuel (once loaded) no matter were they are. You have to manually tell them to unload.

Note: this is not true for AO's and TK's in a Transport TF.

Hope this helps :)

Is this a fix from recent patches? In earlier versions the transports would automatically start unloading after loading was complete if you set it to (patrol/do not retire). I have to admit I havent tried this again since being burnt in earlier games though. Hope you are right.

I can corroberrate Tanj's post. Make sure the AO or TK is set to REPLENTISHMENT tho. If set to transport, it WILL auto-unload. But the replentishment TF will hold it's fuel until you instruct it to do so (I'm playing v2.11 btw).

Yes I never had a problem with AO's or TK's. I was refering to troop ships. Can you have "loaded" troop ships remain in port without it automatically unload?

TIMJOT,

I've done it a few times by mistake. Once I'd sent a TF to Cooktown with supplies and I wanted to pick up the EAB thats there and send it to Port Moresby. After unlaoding enough supplies to load the EAB I stopped unloading supplies and had it load the EAB and I had forgotten to set a new destination and it sat there fully loaded for a few turns.

I usually set amphibious TF's to load with a destination in mid ocean with patrol/do not retire set, once they have all gathered at the rendezvous point I set the destination of the lead TF (usually the slowest TF with the largest capaicty transports) for its target with the others set to follow.

I don't know if I explained it clearly but this is the easiest way I've found to make sure every TF is loaded properly before conducting an invasion.

Thats exactly what I do, because as I said, its been my expirence that if you leave a "loaded" troop TF waiting to rendezvous with other TF's in a port it will automatically start unloading even if set at (patro/do not retire). I havent tried this in any of the latest versions so maybe it has been fixed. I will test it and see.

Regards
