Day 65:
Today is troop smacking time.

FB attack lanching at 7:30 attacking armour, main effort is against the 116th as it has nont been hit before and has a strenght around 1600 points.

8th Airforce (heavy) Is going to attack the front line in normandy lanching at 7:50 6 attacks of about 130 Bombers in each. I dont think it is going to do much but here is hopeing.

FS Today I am running standing patrols on both sides of the front line hoping to prevent him from going after my bomber with to much aggression. Lucky for me his HAA is as dangerous to him as it is to me over the front line so he may just leave them be.

BC going after rail that is not red in Belgium

I know you aren't relishing having your heavies subject to the HAA his military units possess, but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. I look forward to seeing how this shift of emphasis works out.

Your FB's are doing the best they can against the Wehrmacht but the results they get seem disproportionately small when compared to the beating they take. Does he have a lot of LAA over his rail centers? If not, then perhaps your FB units could be used against them. In my 700-turn campaign, my FB's have had good success against his communication centers in Italy. (Haven't had Overlord restrictions kick in for my UK based units yet.)

Once again, congratulations for your success against the Luftwaffe. You have whipped him.

Mission report:
The heavies bomb his front line and take a beating. 11 B-17's hit the ground. I think if I was playing the computer I would loss way less FB to LAA and HAA. The Germans Know I need to hit his troops to get enough points to win, That is why he has them stacked with AA. Some of the front line units are topping out at 100 LAA and 30 HAA + most of the best targets also have Flak Units with them adding another 80+ LAA.

Turned a few of his front line units orange this turn. I have noticed that any unit who gets under 400 points seems harder to hit. So my aim from now on is to hit units above 400 points only.

Day 66:

The 8th is free again.

My main raids today are Huls Chemische size 40 rubber and Knapsack-Golden size 26 power. Both of these are long runs but I am banking on his fighters being to far away to do anything about them.

To help distract him for a while the B-24's are going to hit the front line again in 3 places on the far end of the line. Also I am sending all the low moral heavies after the 2 top most units. These raids have no fighter escort at all, I hope that the German don't notice them or decide they are too far away.

The mediums are bombing all along the Belguim coast as a deversion for my 2 main raids. Hopefully the Germans will think my main attacks are going to turn at the coast like the mediums.

The havocs are going after Tille PRI AF about 100+ fighters on this base. This raid has the lions share of fighter cover as I want him to come up and attack this raid. The fighters flying with these bombers are the best on offer. Highest skill, moral and well rested.

FB are still attacking ground units

I converted 2 Tempest Sqaudrons from 10 and 11 sectors to warhawks and moved all Hurricanes, Tempests and Typhoons into Normandy to make their flight back to base while damaged shorter. I hope this will save a few lost A/C and pilots as a lot seem to crash in the channel on their way home.

Mission report:

My fighters where spread a little thin on the long raids and I was stupid flying the guys without fighter cover. His fighters did not hit them but because I came in low I lost planes for no reason.

Good news we have our first British Ace

Wing Commander John Connell Freeborn, DFC* (1 December 1919 – 28 August 2010) was a World War II RAF pilot. He was not only an ace but also held the distinction of having flown more operational hours than any other RAF pilot during the Battle of Britain.

quote:

The Battle of Barking Creek

On 6 September 1939 he took part in an action later to be called the Battle of Barking Creek - a tragic misunderstanding during which two No. 56 Squadron Hurricanes were intercepted and shot down by aircraft from 74 Squadron, thereby becoming the first aircraft destroyed by a Spitfire. John shot down the aircraft of Pilot Officer Montague Hulton-Harrop who did not survive, becoming the first RAF pilot to die in World War II.

Day 67:

Seeing as my bomber did nothing to the rubber factory, I am going back today to do it right. I hope he comes after me today as I now have this raid stacked with 700+ fighters and 250 Bombers.

Mission Report:
Forgot to put up the raid map and mission list

FS did some real killing today. The germans bypassed my raid coming in and then waited for them on the return leg. Good plan as I had set my fighter sweeps to be in front of the bombers. Lucky for me their timing was out and ended up flying right into his fighters as my bombers where crossing the coast on the return leg.
