Where are you rearming your BBs?

Wait, I've got an idea. You can rearm a BB from an AE, if the AE has enough supply to handle that task, correct?

I've got several support ships, including two AE, an AR and other assorted Tenders headed to Melbourne. If they can handle that task, I'll send the AE North to rearm Force Z and keep them in the fight.

Time to break out the manual and start researching.

Would be nice if that was an Air HQ! Not sure of it, I will have to look it up.

I hadn't even thought of that. It had 230 squads in it, so it was something big but I'm not sure what.

Speaking of Air HQs, I was able to successfully rescue a large, and I mean LARGE portion of the troops at Singers while this little dance was going on in the Makassar Strait. I pulled out 224th HQ, III Indian Corp HQ, BOTH Indian Divisions plus five base forces (four RAF and one RN), three Heavy AA units, one ARM unit and one ART unit. I watched the convoys run back to Rangoon and the DL never budged, so I don't think he realizes I pulled those troops out. If I have time and PPs, I'm going to return to pull out the two Aussie Brigades as well.

Well, FoW not counted, but the transports and escorts involved can only carry 600 troop capacity. So, no air flot HQ, they use 936 capacity. The smaller COY Eng units are only 110 capacity.

Hi Paliden. Be careful about the defense at Moulmein. You can get outflanked by a IJA amphib in to pegu..IJA would enjoy killing alot of 41 allied infantry for victory points.

I did not realize that, I'll have to make sure to post a heavy garrison at Pegu as well. Thanks for the warning.

Man alive, now THAT's a fight.

Force Z took on a superior IJN force at night and whipped them, badly. BB Fuso was hurt, but not badly enough to suspect that she's in danger of sinking, but BB Hyuga got MAULED by PoW and Repulse both. I counted no less than 7 hits by 14" and 15" shells, with at least four penetrating the belt armor and doing heavy damage to her engines. Also hit were the upper works, with heavy casualties reported among the damage control crews. I also hit CA Kako, though not severly, and absolutely murdered CL Yura.

I paid for this the next morning though, with no less than 19 bomb hits and 5 torpedoe hits on PoW, while Repulse took 24 bomb hits and 1 torpedoe hit. Repulse is a lost cause, unless the damage control crews perform a miracle, with literally NO operational weapons or radars left save for her two forward 15" turrets. PoW, on the other hand, actually has a slim chance of making it to a port where she can be patched up enough to make the run to Colombo.

Just to recap, PoW has taken a total of 26x250kg SAP bombs, 7 aerial torpedoes, 5x36cm shell hits and 4 shell hits of various smaller calibers.

What, exactly, is this thing made out of???

What is PoW's experience like? With all this action, how much has it gone up?

I'm more interested in the damage ratios, including how much is Major.

What port are you intending to do this "patching" in?

Here's a screen shot of Prince of Wales, showing the ship's condition. It's headed for Ternate and then Soerabaja, but very slowly.

Looks like the experience is 81/62. Talk about a murder machine.

And here's Repulse. I doubt that she'll make it another day. If the flooding doesn't get her, the IJNAF will. Too bad, she really went out swinging.

Yes, you can. Make sure the AE is large enough and loaded with supply.

Very curious to see what happens with Repulse and POW...that was a slugfest, and then they caught you in the morning...

I have POW and Repulse up to mid 80s on night and day in my AI game... they went on a rampage through the DEI and finally called it quits and replenishd in Darwin for fuel...then headed to safer waters in Sydney. It can be a machine if used correctly... Good job.. too bad they're in a tough situation now.

I'n not sure how much experience you have with ship repair, so if this is old hat I apologize.

Ternate, if you make it, (good chance you won't with that flooding), won't help much. It's got no repair facilities and is very exposed on the front lines. One more bomb will probably finish her, and you'll be at Ternate for weeks. The Fires are likely not a problem at only 1, but fire-fighting DC is abstrated into System Damage, and you have a lot of that. System is also the dewatering pumps, and your flooding is very bad. Stay at Cruise speed to Ternate, if that is your target.

Next problem is making Soerbaja with that amount of System. I'd say you have to get below about 40 with that much flooding to even have a chance, and there are random rolls every turn to increase the flooding. Getting 15 System off a BB at a port like Ternate is a long wait.

If you make Soerbaja you can't fix her there. She weighs 35,490 tons, and Soerbaja's drydock has an upper limit of 8000 tons. Sydney can't fix her either. You need Colombo, or Cape Town, or the UK, or the US WC ports, or EC. At a huge yard figure this amount of damage at a year to repair at least.

Well, it looks like I've got part of the KB raiding down on Australia's Eastern Coast. I lost 6 TKs and a number of other ships but the worst part is that there doesn't seem to be any way to get rid of these marauding Japs. I don't have any figher cover for Sydney or Melbourne, much less any where else, so if he decides to pull a port raid, this could hurt.

I also lost BC Repulse to heavy flooding today, but this was expected. PoW is still enroute to Terante and then Soerabaja before heading for Colombo. Interestingly enough, my opponent thought he'd sunk her and headed away from her, sparing her for the moment. I can't say that she'll make it to, well, anywhere just yet, but this is a start.

Finally, while all of this drama in the Java Sea has been taking place, I've been quietly evacuating Singapore under the IJA's nose. Another week and I should have the last two units bought out, loaded and gone before the IJA can stop us. Now granted, there's still a garrison in Singapore, but it's just barely enough to keep up the illusion of a large force, and that only as long as he doesn't look too closely.

Here's a screen shot of Prince of Wales, showing the ship's condition. It's headed for Ternate and then Soerabaja, but very slowly.

No need to apologize, as while I have a basic understanding of repairs, I am by no means an expert at it.

After looking at your post, I'm thinking that Terante>Soerabaja>Colombo will be the course I take, unless events dictate otherwise. I'm hoping that, since I survived today's turn, I'll be able to slip away quietly to repair and return at a later date, but we'll see.
