What is the opinion of uncommon valor? I know it is a precursor of WiTP AE.

Do others consider it a worthwhile purchase even now? Anyone still playing or has everyone moved on?

I just ask because it looks intriguing.

UV is a great game but being honest the AI is weak. For my money tha AI is weak in WITP too but much better in AE...... There's a dedicated few you can play PBEM but you're probably better off buying WITP AE. I will say the 30 mile hex that UV provides is very intriuging compared to the 40 mile hex that AE provides.. IMHO that 10 mile difference provides much better scale.

Best of luck!!

Thanks for the response. I was wondering about the smaller scale of UV.

I have WiTpAE but haven't had the time to learn it properly. I get started but the scale just becomes overwhelming. I thinking that maybe the smaller scale of UV would be less intimidating while I learn the game interface, then take the step to AE.

Or you could just play one of the smaller scenarios in AE instead of spending more for another game which is pretty much similar anyway. I have fond memories of playing UV but WITP and then WITP AE essentially trumped them. You could play one of the smaller scenarios and learn more about the AE interface while also being able to enjoy the vast improvements over UV which AE has. Just my recommendation.

I always found that UV campaigns depended too much on the outcome of the Coral Sea (or similar) carrier battle. By contrast WitP allows much more flexibility in controlling forces. Having bought WitP I would not go back to UV.

I moved on after AE came out as a stand alone, but UV is great for PBEMs.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going take the advice to just commit to AE. As mentioned I will learn with the smaller scenarios, I already started going through the manual. All you comments are very much appreciated.

I strongly recommend to watch Teian Youtube Tutorial Videos to get an understanding for the various concepts in WitPAE
