I have always disliked the quasi 3D - toy soldiers look. Yet one screen shot seems to be top down 2D hexes.

Can the whole game be played from that view?

You can choose between 3D units and 2D counters.

You decide the view of the camera - you can play zoomed out like in the Moscow screenshot or close in like in the others.
You select the views either by mousewheel or F1-F5 keys for fast access.

Anyway if you play with 3D units and you completly zoom out they will change to 2D Counters at a certain point as its not possible to recordnize them that far out.

Regards,

If units are to scale, does that mean stacking is allowed? (As opposed to Panzer Corps, where it's 1 unit/hex.)

Hello,

No stacking besides the air/ground one.
The formations mean lower maximum strength, limited choice on support units and decreased combat strength for smaller ones.
So a Tiger Regiment would be more powerful in battle than Tiger Battalion if both had full strength and no other modifications.
And they interact so a Tiger Battalion would attack a Soviet Infantry Division which gets artillery support from a mortar regiment.

Regards,

Hi DerTroof - no stacking of multiple ground units in the same hex, but generally the scenarios are designed so that the hexes are the appropriate scale for the most prevalent unit types. In addition, there is an adjacency bonus in combat, so if you have a division attacking another division and you have a friendly supporting regiment adjacent to that enemy division, it will give you a bonus in combat.

Smaller units can be tougher than their size might suggest, thanks to how the combat system model works, so for example the Tiger Battalion Ronald mentions above definitely punches above its weight in terms of unit size. It's not just a lower strength unit.

Regards,

- Erik

A couple of questions:
- Are there lines of supply ?
- What about the action system ? Is it one move and one attack per turn, or a full action point system ?

There no lines of supply, but the supply system offers different rule sets to choose from.
In the detailed supply rules you need to use your resources on ammo and fuel thus leading to the choice between that and refitting the troops.
Also those costs vary, depending on the operation. Early stage costs of fuel for the Germans e.g. are significant lower than those in a battle like at Moscow '41 in the winter.

We have an action point system, it allows multiple moves per turn, but only one attack in it. There are recon units that have 4 action points and can scout in four steps into enemy territory as long as their movement points are not used up or they don't run out of fuel.
You can also move a unit, leave it, move another, and go back to the first and use up its action/movement points or attack at will. You are not bound to do everthing at once, you choose the order of actions.

Regards,

We have one in mind, but i sadly cannot state anything about it now. It will be announced by the official channels when the time is right.
