Dude! You are the man! Any idea when Panzerkrieg will be ready? That is one of my all time favorite AH games. You probably already got something like 50 million suggestions on which games people would like to see next, but here are mine! :D

SPI
Panzergruppe Guderian
War in the East
War in the West
Cobra (w/DDay expansion)
Drive on Stalingrad

Avalon Hill
Russian Front (1985)
Tobruk

Thank you again dude. Now I can once again enjoy all my fav boardgames with all my friends now scattered all over the world. :)

Close to Russian Front, haven't you got WIR ?

My favourite was GETTYSBURGH. (AH also i thing, or VG ?).
I needed 1 day to install it, 1 hour per 20' turn.
As nobody would play with me, i'd do it alone.
Never went farther than 2d day...

The rulebook was so heavy, this kind of game actually taught me English !

best regards

I had Avalon Hill's Gettysburg. I bought new for $5 in a book store! I didn't think the rules were that bad though. But I didn't have anyone to play that one with either as I got it late after all my buddies had already moved away. I lost it during one of my many moves about ten years ago.

I should have Panzerkrieg ready within the month, I hope. It's been on hold for a while. Panzerkrieg has a long history. It was first done by Rand games under the title VonMainstien. Then OSG came out with a much more developed version of the game and changed the title to Panzerkrieg. I'm doing the OSG version but if I remember correctly it is identical to the AH version but might have some rules tweaks and maybe a counter update or two. These are easy to incorporate in the module.

I'm going to be submitting an updated version of War and Peace in a week or two so watch for it. It will allow masking of pieces so your opponent can't look at your stacks and will have a seperate map window for the turn record charts.

I've considered doing Panzergroup Guderian and if I do, it will be the original SPI magazine version. So maybe I can fit it into the list of thing to do. I just sent Rodney a quick module I did for the old SPI mag game Battle for Germany but he hasn't posted it yet. Have you ever played the SPI prestag series of ancient combat? I've made a few of those modules too.

Anyway, I work on these as I get time and I'm constantly jumping frm project to project. I'm concentrating on older classics that are fairly easy to play so people can get used to the Vassal program. And don't be afraid to try and make a module yourself. It's fun. Time consuming, but fun.

You are having to much fun with this Dave.

I think I better start spending more time with the VASL program, and stop trying to convert people that have no desire to be converted.
They will be happy and I will be happy, and the world according to both camps can go where it is going to go.

By the way, are you using the Vasl 4 module for Vassal or the older Vasl stand alone program?

It appears you know your way around VASL a substantial amount more than me Dave, I can't even say I have used it much (something I intend to start rectifying today I hope).

As for Advanced Third Reich, I am unsure if the attempt to do it with VASL software will have merit. Or rather it has p ossibly already been thoroughl done with Warplanner software.

http://www.warplanner.com/

I will also be checking this out more effectively as well (and likely be a bit busy with both, to the exclusion of annoying some people on some forums).

As you can see I got it downloaded, unzipped and running. :D

Looks great! Panzerblitz looks like the best mod, IMHO. The fellow did a direct scan of the maps for the Panzer Leader mod, but its good too. I haven't d/l any of the others, but am interested in Flattop, Bismarck, and Midway64.

But by and far most of the work is going into the ASL mod.

I was rather hoping the computer would automatically deduct movement points and automatically resolve combat. But hey, that might be the next thing they're working on for all I know.

For those who aren't familiar with this, it is literally the boardgames that you played face to face, but they're now played on the PC and over the Internet. But you still have to determine movement and combat using charts and dice just as you did when playing the boardgames. Though the program provides the charts and a die/dice roll when needed.

I'm still trying to catch a game being played 'live' at the server. That should be very interesting. I'm also trying to talk my old buddies into d/l and playing this. SPWAW has too good a hold on them though.

Still have not mastered the software as yet, but hmmm I can still contribute in a few ways.

I have a good deal of my board games scanned eh.

Images might not be completely up to specs though (I am just not sure).

I have not scanned the maps or counters much though (my main interest was in scanning the manuals so i can get others able to learn the games).
