i know there was a older post about that, but cant find it. so the bug is im a empire and desgin all my ship to capture so i may gain some tech they have in the design when i retire them, but strangely i got other tech that is not fit in the ship, they got target tracking that i dont have yet still not have gain it.

but i gain transport tech, i just gain planetery defence a 960k research, im still only got 4 colony. i got too all the tech line for cargo transfer...

Yup. Seen the same insane tech acquisition from captured ships.

It should be a tech equalizer - so you can catch up by capturing and disassembling opponents' ships. But it doesn't seem to work that way.

I left a suggestion in master wishlist for them to nerf it:
instead of 1 big research bonus, give a very little bonus but for every advanced component.

When I'm pre-warp, and repair the advanced ship in my home-system, I get ADVANCED LOGISTICS (troop research) from retiring it. Joke.. a very bad one.

I don't think getting logistics from the frigate you find abandoned in the home system is too bad, nor is repairing the destroyer which takes quite a bit of time and getting ship boarding or something similar as I usually do. They're only first level techs. But on the other hand getting all the way through gerax hyperdrives after capturing and retiring four pirate escorts seemed a bit quick.. although it is what I hoped would happen when I captured warp-capable ships.

The issue I have with the mechanic as it stands, is that you seem to get a tech bonus even if you are ahead of the retired ship's technology level. I have had max tech level reached just through captured ships, and I'm quite confident that none of the pirates who so graciously donated their ships, are of that tech level.
