Hi,

As a way to prevent the sync' bug, I used to send my combat report to my opponent with every replayed turn, any difference between mine and his would indicate (we thought) an instance of the bug.

Now, I'm told (this thread, post #17) that the two reports might not be the same, each including some FOW specific to the player.

Is it the case? and could we have a dev confirmation of it.

Many thanks in advance
Francois

The combat report is the same for both players. What is seen in the combat replay (the animation and pop-up report during the animation) can be different from the combat report.

Francois, my post #17 does not show two different combat reports. One is the Combat REPORT and the other is the Allied Combat REPLAY. Sorry for not making that clear.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I'll keep sending my reports, then...

Well, if you send them, then have your opponent send his to you as well, right?

Then you'll know if they're different or not.

As his opponent I'd be happy to send it. I haven't tested but I think that when the Replay Bug is "biting" it overwrites the file he sent me. Pretty sure that the Combat Summary that the Japanese Player creates during "his" Replay is the way things actually occurred though. I let Francois know when I think that the Replay Bug is biting. It seems much less frequent in the current incarnation of UV/WitP/WitP:AE than it did in "the olden days".

Incidentally it seems that the FOW created between the Replay Animation and Combat Summary universally reports far more damage to the IJ than actually occurred. In 10 years of play mostly as Allied I've never seen a bunch of misses in the Replay that result in the Summary reporting/showing an IJ ship sunk or heavily damaged.
