Big deal! I have two questions if anybody cares to answer, I'm trying to understand the game:

1. I was never attacked. If I would have been attacked would I've been able to see the 'combat-resolution report' for it by using the 'Battle locator'?

2. I clicked the 'Create fortified unit' button for the city with the victory points, lying east (sorry forget the name) at first it seemed fortification was growing (the popup reported a percentage towards level 1) one or two turns later it had returned to zero. Why could that be. I had a corps in their that I moved out, and I moved in an HQ, is that the reason?

Assuming you had no combat (combat reduces the fort level), did you actually have any ready elements in the fortified region TOE?

You see, you need to have some soldiers to prevent natural degradation of the fort level, and fort regions are created with only 1 ready element. So if you get that damaged, you end up with no ready elements; that would be my theory about this, but can't say if that indeed explains that or not.

And, yes, as far as I know HQs do not prevent fort decay - it has to be a combat unit.

When you clicked 'create a fortified unit' did it create a fortified zone unit?(See 7.5.1.)There are some cases when you cannot build FZs.You need a combat unit or a FZ in a hex to prevent fort decay, HQs and air bases wont help.

Hi thanks for the replies. The city was never under attack while I held it. But it is true that I moved a division out, leaving no unit at the city and then moved an HQ in. So do forts degrade automatically even if no battle takes place at the location?

The fortification level degrades automatically by end of turn if there's no combat unit on it, but the fortified region should prevent that, as they count as a combat unit.
